Getting to know us part 6

The first night that we stayed at the campground in the tent...dh aka Flower, was putting up the tent and Belle and I had to go to the bathroom. We walked over to the bath house. When we went inside I noticed their were coin boxes outside the showers. I thought..."Oh great, we have to pay for showers." When I went back I told dh. He said, "I'll check it out, when I go over there."

Dh went over there, came back and said, "You don't have to pay for a shower. I turned the water on."

The next morning dh went off to work. When I got up, I grabbed my clothes, towels, etc. I went to the showers, took my clothes off, turned the water on and waited for the water to get hot...and I waited, and waited, and WAITED!!! Put my clothes back on, grabbed my stuff, went back to the tent, and called dh from my cell phone. The conversation went something like this...

Me-"Hi Honey"
Dh-"Hi"
Me-"Did you take a shower this morning?"
Dh-"Yeah"
Me-"Did you take a HOT shower this morning?"
Dh, laughing-"No, I found out this morning that you need to pay for hot water. Boy was that a cold shower!"

It was $ .25 for 6 minutes...$ .10 for every 2 minutes after that! I learned how to take a shower and give lil dd a shower in less than 6 minutes cuz I wasn't paying more than I had too!

That's so not funny, but I keep laughing. (Sorry) I can't believe they charged you for hot water!!! What a world!

I too, have had the privilege of paying for a shower at Big Bend. The only showers in the entire National Park, and they cost $1 for five minutes. At least they were hot ;)

We encountered a few of those pay showers on our travels. I'm old enough to remember when a lot of the public restrooms had pay stalls!!!
