Recap of 2008

I thought it would be fun to go back through all my posts of 2008 and give a list of the highlights or the one's I thought were fun or inspiring for each month. Some of these months were packed with all kinds of goodies...so it was kinda tough to pick one. January I thought I should pick getting to know us for any new readers...March was packed with sadness and spiritual warfare, but I picked a light read, April we went to SC, May's highlight would definitely have to be dd's bday! June was some light reads like the garbage bowl or the Wonder Woman post, July was full of fun, August I got to meet my best friend on this earth other than my dh and my family~Reise, September again was a month of spiritual nuggets and some fun, October was full of political stuff, November we had the masterpiece of reduction and some more spiritual nuggets, and finally December with the Starbuck's shoplifter and some other funny stories.

January's highlight...getting to know us parts 1-2, part 3, part 4, part 5, part 6 (It would have been Joe Bug's 12th birthday, but I failed to get it posted...sigh)

February's highlight...Significant, Important, Famous

March's highlight...Because You Can't

April's highlight...When to Pray

May's highlight...Happy Birthday Bella!

June's highlight...Love the sinner, Hate the sin

July's highlight...Best Investment (it would have been dd's 21st bday, but we were travelling again)

August's highlight...We're not practicing goons

September's highlight...A Divine Appointed Camping Trip

October's highlight...Dh put us on a diet

November's highlight...Influential people

December's highlight...By far

So that's 2008 in a nutshell...and few words in closing 2008...
I hope that over the year, I have inspired you, pointed you to the Way, the Truth and the Light, made you laugh and cry! I hope that I've shared my heart and when you read my blog, you feel you know me. That's been my goal in my blog postings.

I pray that each of you have a wonderful New Year's Eve and that 2009 will be not only fine, but be your year to prosper in all areas-spiritually, physically, mentally, and financially.

Thank you for reading my blog over the year, and hope you'll be back for 2009!

Blessings until next time!

after Christmas special...

Christmas quite uneventful...
got up around 7 am...kids opened gifts, went off to play with gifts. I went back to bed until 11ish...played on computer...got showered and dressed around 3ish. Went to the movies. Saw Bedtime Stories...very good movie...the whole family really enjoyed it and decided we will get it on dvd...went to find a place to eat, since it was around 7 when we got out of movies and didn't make the prime rib dinner I had planned. Went to Panda Express, singing "Fa-ra-ra-ra-ra" on the walk to the door. They were shutting down...so got back in car...decided to go home and dh made buffalo wings...so that was Christmas dinner...played on computer again, then played my new 30th anniversary and my favorite game...Payday with kids...stayed on computer til all hours of the night, then got up went shopping with the girls, came home, cleaned kitchen, made prime rib, yesterday's Christmas dinner, along with chili...showered and now reporting to your all! :P

that's it

Blessings....

oh and I did remember to wipe nose before going into public today! :P LOL

By far one of the most embarassing moments in my life...

Warning: gross subject matter!!!

Today, I went to the post office to mail some packages. My younger two children were with me. While waiting in line, I was filling out a form for a certified letter and writing out some checks for bills. My kids were goofing off. (Not loud, just being silly) So when they said softly, "Mom you have a booger in your nose."
I thought they meant they were looking up my nose. I replied, "I'll get it when I go to the van." I didn't realize they meant everyone could see it! Great, now I'll be remembered by the postman as the lady with a booger sticking out her nose! sigh and yeah, it's possible. We live in a small town...

At this point all I can do is laugh, because you can choose to do one of two things...laugh or cry...and I choose to laugh...and oh well, I'm sure I brought a smile to someone's face...because they were thinking, "I'm glad it's her and not me!"

I think I'm par for this year!

Leave it to one of my kids to say this...

On the way home from Walmart today, we were listening to the radio. Of course every station now playing almost nonstop Christmas music. My kids are already sick of it. (Maybe because they start the day after Halloween?) The song on the radio was, "Do You Hear what I Hear?" The first line is, "Do you see what I see?" My daughter replies, "Only if you can see the radio!"roflol Goofy kid!!! :P

Starbucks Shoplifter?

What is this world coming to? LOL!

So, yesterday, I went shopping with all my kids. Second stop we made was at a Target with a Starbuck's. Dd asked if I would like a Java Chip Frap-sure!

As she's ordering, etc., I told her I was going back to the linens and then to electronics.

Dd brings me my frap over in the linens. We go over to electronics. I'm looking around. Next, a Target employee stops me and says, "Excuse me ma'am, did you purchase those Starbuck's here in the store?"

"Yes, sir." I reply.

"Ma'am, I think you forgot to pay, was your total $9.51?"

"Um, I don't know, my daughter purchased them, let me ask her."

I walk over to dd. "Honey, do you have your receipt for Starbucks? Because this man said he thinks you forgot to pay."

She replies, "I think so" She opens her wallet, looks for the receipt and then realizes she forgot to pay! "OMGosh, I'm SO sorry! I was giving my little sister some change for an icee, and I put my ATM card in my pocket to pay, I thought I handed it to the girl!"

The guy walks up with dd to the front. Apparently on the way up they had a nice conversation. The guy understood. He forgot to take his groceries the other day after paying for them, while out with his son. (He told me later, below, I said, "At least you didn't forget your son." LOL)

Later, we were in the same area he was working. I showed him our receipt for our purchases, and said, "You can stop following us now, we paid for our purchases." He laughed.

It made for an interesting shopping day...from then on I asked dd if she planned on paying for her items.

UGH! FAMILY and prayer...

Family can be so frustrating at times! We are suppose to have a Christmas gathering this weekend with my side of the family. I don't know if my sister or my older of the my brothers are coming or not...long story...but it boils down to I'm tired of being in the kitchen all day cooking and some of the family doesn't realize the amount of time and effort I put into it. I enjoy it-don't get me wrong, BUT at the end of the day I would like help with the dishes. When I prepare a meal it's not just the cooking. There's first getting back to the house-so traveling, planning, shopping, cooking, cleaning, the amount of money I spend...so when I ask for help with the dishes and my sister says, "I did my share of dishes before dinner" umm you hopefully understand my frustration!

So I sent out this email to the family members as a joke to relieve my frustrations last week... (I have several frustrations with my sister)

Family~
The plan after discussing with Dad and Annie is to get together on Saturday, Dec. 20th at Hank and my house.

Becki has graciously offered to make lasagne or pick up BBQ from Rudy's. Afterwards she's volunteered to do all the dishes to thank Stephanie and I for all our hard work of cooking and cleaning most of the dishes at Thanksgiving. Please contact her with what you would prefer (lasagne or BBQ)and coordinate what you can bring to help. I will do desserts.

Love,
Bobbi

This is the email my sister replies back to the whole family:
BOBBI IS A LIAR! I HAVE NOT OFFERED TO BUY RUDY'S (ONE, CAUSE NOBODY ASKED, TWO, BECAUSE I DON'T CARE FOR RUDY'S, AND THREE, I'M NOT SPENDING THAT KIND OF MONEY ON FOOD). BOBBI, I DON'T APPRECIATE YOUR 'JOKE'! I DID HELP WITH DISHES AT YOUR HOUSE. IF YOU'D LIKE MY PRESENCE ON THE 20TH, I EXPECT A HUGE APPOLOGY. BTW, I DON'T RECALL CRAIG, DRUE OR DAD DOING DISHES EITHER

Apparently, My sister not only didn't like and get my joke, but doesn't realize how much work it is to prepare dinner. I really did send it out as a joke...I didn't expect my sister to react so drastically! Usually, when we have a joke like this she laughs and says something like, "Good one, but I won't be doing any of that!" So now, who knows if she'll be there or not...anyone want a new Kitchen-aid Salad Spinner for Christmas? LOL

Here's a good reason not to be angry with family:
Please pray for my url friend, Beth, again. She has a malignant brain tumor, a grade 4 out of a possible 4. :( I know all things are possible with GOD and HE can heal her. I would appreciate you all agree with me in prayer just that.

Also, will you please pray for my url friend, Stacey. Stacey has MS and this past month has been confined to a wheel chair and NOT only that, but her mom's house burned down. :( This must be so sad for her, I think it was the house Stacey grew up in. I can't even imagine!

Thanks and Blessings until next time!

Sunday Sing-Along

not up to posting much lately...

Haven't had much to say. So I haven't. LOL...and we've been back and forth to Houston almost everyday this week...
Friday-to
Saturday-from
Sunday-to
Monday-from
Tuesday-to
Wednesday-no travel, my birthday
Thursday-from...been home since, with some head cold or something...I don't know what it is....stuffy head, blech...

I've got to get the Christmas cards out still...sigh...and finish up shopping. The family gathering is next weekend...I'm done with them, except my dad and his wife. This year I was going to go with gift cards, but everyone told me what they wanted and I got that instead, so hopefully no giving disasters-like last year. :)

That's about all...

Today officially!!!!

Today is my 44th birthday. The same age my mom was when she past away...it's hard to believe I'm as old as she was...seems like yesterday! You can read what happen to my mom here, if you'd like. If you recall, last year I went around and had been telling everyone I was 43 when in fact I was only 42! So I'd been preparing all year to turn 44 instead of 43! that's when I asked can I say I'm 42, since I skipped this whole year of saying I was? LOL...I guess this year I REALLY am 44! LOL

Today, we are in Houston. There's a possiblity that we might get snow. I think we are going to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner, if I can find one on this end of town. If not, I think I'll make roast (one of my favorite foods) and go to Costco and get a cheesecake! YUM!!!

Remind you all to tell you the prank I pulled on my sister tomorrow. lol (although, I don't think she thought it was funny, unless her response is a joke too!)

I think in memory of past birthdays....I'm going to try to remember several years...

of course I don't really remember up until I was about 4. A few things I do remember about my birthdays though:

My mom always tried to keep my birthday separated from Christmas. She always made sure my presents weren't wrapped in Christmas paper, or that we had a Christmas tree or decorations up until after my birthday. When I was little and I had a party, I remember my mom used a white sheet and took a permanent marker and outlined all the kids that came to the party and wrote their names in the hands. :)

When I was 8, I was with my dad and sister at Indian Princess camp. I wish I had the pic to post. I had pig-tails. Everyone at camp sang Happy Birthday and they gave me a piece of cake. When we got home that night (I remember it was a Sunday) my mom gave me this way cool jewerly enamel thing.

When I was 10, I got a new, full size blue bike. I had that for years! It had a white seat on it. LOL

Turning 12, I got the game PayDay for my birthday. It's still one of my favorites!

When I turned 13, we had just moved to TX that fall, we got a Christmas tree that day and were going to move into our new house the following weekend.

When I was 16, I remember my mom copied a Ann Landers or Dear Abby article of a poem in my birthday card. It was a card with a puppy on it...I still have it!

Turning 18, was the last birthday I had with my mom. :( I don't really remember the day.

19, I didn't have my mom anymore...I'm not sure I remember this birthday either.

Since then birthday's have come and gone...some good, some bad...this year I have a feeling is going to be great!

Blessings until next time!

King Willie

Back when I left the Steve Martin video of King Tut on my blog, my youngest dd thought when Steve Martin sings..."When he was a young man"....he was saying Willie was a young man...so now it's a joke to say we are going to see King Willie Tut in Dallas. :P
We are hoping to take the RV over the Christmas break and go see the King "Willie" Tut exhibit.

In other news...
My url friend, Beth, is doing better. She's weak and goes through periods of having energy to exhausted. From my understanding she will have chemo.

We went to dh's company Christmas party on Friday night at some huge hotel in downtown Houston. He saw one person he knew all night...that's not saying much...he only knows a few to begin with. We stayed for dinner and then for a pic. I might post the pic later...I think my head looks huge and so does my chest! LOL...My kids think the pic came out nice.

I didn't post a Sunday Sing-Along...that's a first in a long time...but I just had to go get ds a Christmas present yesterday morning at Target, on sale, before they sold out and can't find it until March of next year...much like the Wii...LOL!

Ummm...I think that's all for now...
Blessings until next time!

I wonder where they get that from?

Yesterday, after leaving the post office, we got to the one light we have in our town. We were in the right lane, while a constable, and his partner, pulled up to the left lane. My son looks over to the car and says,"Hey Mom, look they wanna race" and my reply with a grin was, "No, son, I'm sure they don't want to race us" He replied, as the car sped off in front of us, "Yeah, see they wanna race! You gotta hurry and catch up to them!" :P

Later in the day, we went out for dinner. There was a young couple with a baby near us. The mom was taking pictures of the baby. My son said, "I wasn't smiling. Can we take it again?" Then younger dd says, "Yeah, I think I blinked. We need to take it again." roflol...
(I don't think they heard us...but we were roaring)

Goofballs!!! I wonder where they get that from?

On another note...my friend Beth, made it out of surgery okay...that's all I know. I'll keep you posted when I hear more! Thanks for praying.

Speaking of prayers...would you please pray for the college situation? The English Dept is being difficult and saying dd didn't do her assignment...I don't think they read the whole letter. It's being sent to the Dean. We still haven't heard from History dept. TIA!!!

Blessings until next time!

Wednesday, December 3, 2008

Please take a moment and do these two things...

Today, my url friend, Beth is having brain surgery for a tumor at John Hopkins. She went into surgery at 7:30 am EST. Please pray for her and her family.

Also, will you take a moment and send a thank you note/Christmas card to the troops overseas? Xerox is doing this! Just follow the link...and they have this nifty widget you can put on your blog too. :)

Blessings and thanks!

Guess where I spent yesterday afternoon?

Remember the tax, title, and license (for dh's truck) story from a week or so ago? Yes, I spent yesterday there again. Guess what? I had NO problem getting the license and paying the taxes. I don't know what that one lady's problem was...other than she was rude and didn't know her job correctly....but I left with plates in hand!

Hope to have a success story on the college front too...haven't heard anything from them...

Thanksgiving went well, for those of you wondering. I had everything done as planned. I did not make a pumpkin cheesecake...just as well...no one even made the pie I made. I did however still feel like I didn't get enough visit time in with family. I guess that's the way it is sometimes. It didn't help that the dog ran off...and ds wanted me to help him find the goofy mutt. I think, however, I won't be hosting anymore. I complain every year about how my family leaves the dishes for me to do. :( My sister helped by washing a few dishes before dinner...she made the comment that was all she was good for or something. sigh...My dd and my dh's nephew's wife helped....even though my dd had helped do the cooking and had to work all weekend, and dh's nephew's wife had recently had surgery. I guess maybe over the years I've either made it be know I want to do dishes (ummm-not) or maybe my family doesn't realize or appreciate how much I worked on the meal. Whatever!!! If I do host, I think we will have take out BBQ on paperplates. :P

Well I guess that's it for now.
Blessings until next time!

priorities...

After spending several days, with my dh at odds with me and me with him...I've realized some of my/our priorities are out of line. I've/We've gotten rather slothful in some areas. I don't think I did it necessarily on purpose, it just sometimes happens. So my goal is to start getting them back into order. If I'm not here as much or as often, please understand this is why.
Blessings!

Today, is my friend, Marian's birthday. She won't see this...she doesn't use the computer much. But I have a story....the other day I called to see if her family was coming to my house for Thanksgiving...we had discussed it...and then said when's your birthday again? (knowing it was the same week as Thanksgiving, just couldn't remember exact date)
Her reply was the 25th whenever that is...

I got off the phone...

Belle asks, "Mom when's Sis. Marian's birthday, the 25th?"

"Yes"

"Mom the 25th is Sister Marian's birthday AND the day the milk expires!"

ROFLOL...as if the two are related?!?! Yes, that kid is definitely related to her warpped father!!!!

The day that Frosty died...

Sunday Sing-Along

I thought a song of thankfulness would be appropriate this week, with Thanksgiving and all. While looking for a song that we use to sing at church, I found this beautiful song, and was extremely blessed by it.

True Friend Award

My url friend, Rosemary, has blessed me again with an award....She is such a sweetie...I look forward to meeting someday irl...if not here, there. :D Thank you again, Rosemary. I am so blessed to know you via internet. I'm glad that I'm good for something. ;P

And this award couldn't have come on a better day...I would like to pass it on tom my irl friend that I met url first...Ms. Christy. Ms. Christy and I use to post on the same home school board and when I thought we were moving to our town, I asked on the board if anyone lived there. Ms. Christy raised her url hand. :P We've been friends ever since...the first time we talked she was so kind...she took time out from her day to listen to my long story of how we ended up there and all kinds of things...then she and her dh invited us to a ball game...What a blessing! If you know how much our family loves baseball, you'd understand how much of a blessing it was!

Ms. Christy and her family have been so helpful to our family since we moved here. She and her boys take care of our Scoutie boy often when we travel. Today, unexpectedly, she came by again...I was out of town, but didn't even call her to bug her and ask...I figured I was only going to gone about 30 hours...Scoutie will be fine. Ms. Christy knew I was gone, and though I didn't ask, she and her ds came by and took care of Scoutie anyhow. When I read her comment to me below, I started crying. She indeed is a true friend. I love you, Ms. Christy and family. Thank you so much for everything always!!! My family is truly blessed by you in more ways than you could ever imagine! Thank you again and again!!!

Where has the week gone? Momma told me there'd be days like this!

Goodness! It's been since Tuesday since I've posted anything! I apologize...it's just been one of those weeks. Wednesday, I felt sluggish all day...kinda like this...

Then Thursday I spent the day helping dd finish up the paper trail on complaints to the college...did I share that? We are asking for our money back on two online courses. One she was dropped from because the instructor said she was a procastinator! Apparently, the instructor didn't get her assignments for whatever reason-we think it's computer issues on our end...and when dd contacted the instructor, after finding out she'd been dropped from the cash office...the day we finish paying off the $1300 in tuition-UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! The instructor told her she couldn't be accepted back into the class. sigh....

The other course is an online History class...and dd never could get the assignment to open. She tried to contact the instructor several times, and he never got back with her. She finally got a hold of the dept head about a week ago. His suggestion was to drop the course...well that's all fine and good, ummm but what about the money? Duh!!!

After filing the necessary complaints, getting all the documentation together, etc...we dropped the complaints off. Then I rush to the tax office near downtown-about an hour away from home. (30 minutes from where we were at) Mind you I had called to ask what were the necessary papers etc that I needed. This is to pay taxes on the new truck that dh got in SC...the one that the dealership (McKinney Dodge-so anyone from SC knows not to do business with them :P) told us they would take care of the tax, title, and license...and lied to make the sale...and then several weeks later called and told us because we don't have the proper SC insurance, blah, blah, blah (btw we have Farmer's Ins) we can't get the license, etc there.

The TX tax office had sent me a form saying they had all the necessary papers from the dealership had arrived and I needed to bring in proof of insurance and the money...I call to make sure the amount hadn't changed. The lady couldn't find the paperwork under my name. She couldn't find it under dh's name...she couldn't find it under the vin number...

why did you all send me tha paper work saying you had it? (just a thought...I never said it...) She transfer me to someone else, they had it and said the lady wasn't looking in the right spot. Do I need anything else? NO...

I rush down there. It's 4:35 pm...they close at 5:30...I got there by 5. I run in...I hand my papers to the receptionist...she asks, "Do you have your title?" "Um NO, You all suppose to have it." She looks the paperwork over again, "Oh I see!" (Oh well thank goodness you can!!! No, I didn't say it...) She gives me a number...I wait...

My number is called...I go to the necessary desk...weird office set up...numbers in flashing neon lights above each desk...hand the gal my paperwork. She has someone helping her...not sure if she's new or not...the gal preceeds to tell me after getting the necessary papers (the title, etc) that the title is signed dh OR my name...which according to what she said...in the state of TX, we don't acknowledge the word OR...therefore your dh needs to be here too. Is he? "NO...why didn't you tell me this on the phone? The paper work is in mine name, and why does the form you sent me say that if he wants to be on it, he needs to come down here, not that he has to?" "I don't know ma'am. Someone was incorrect" "FINE, thank you" I leave....

Call dh when I get to the car with smoke fuming out of my ears!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dh says go back in and tell them (and I have no clue what he says, because I'm so mad) and I tell him NO, I've already left. He asks for their number, I tell him to look online...he calls me back a few minutes later. He spoke to a stupidervisor...according to the stupidvisor the other gal was wrong...that's the way it use to be....well great...now it's 5:35...the office is closed and I'm stuck in rush hour traffic!!! again...NOT HAPPY!!!

On the way home, I'm trying to figure out what's for dinner...I've heard ds complain all afternoon about being hungry....I'm thinking...nothing is thawed, we have no leftovers...what are we going to have??? I know Pancakes, eggs, and bacon...but we're almost out of eggs and bacon...I'll pick some up on the way home at Super Target...

Guess what???? NOT so Super Target!!! I go get the stuff with the girls...by this time ds has officially driven me nuts and I tell him to stay in the van! We get some yummy ham steaks and some cinnamon rolls, eggs, and bacon. We check out...I buy some yummy raisinettes....to help me feel better...we go out to the van...drive home....

I start dinner when I get there. I open the bag...where are the eggs? No eggs... "Belle, where are the eggs?" "In the bag" "no, no eggs in the bag...did the lady give us two bags?" "No"

Start to open the bacon...the bacon has a big cut in the front...oh why didn't I notice this when I was there???? Send dd to the local, high dollar store to get eggs and bacon...

Finally we eat and I can go to bed!

(btw...I did call Target...they said I could bring my receipt in and get my money back. I also spoke to the dealership...one of the owners...he said he'd get back to me on Friday...guess what? He didn't...big surprise there...maybe he'll work something out and pay for the taxes afterall!? Prayer would be appreciated for that, and the refund for dd's online fiasco)

Blessings until next time!

Well last night it dawned on me the map is confused. It's me...since when did I go to Mattoon, IL? Did dh take a job there and I didn't know about it?

Anyhow, it's weird, and I don't know why it's doing it...anyone have an explanation?

a masterpiece of reduction...

Have you seen the new Price is Right with Drew Carey? I have to admit, I thought he would make a terrible host for this show, but the more I watch it (believe me, it isn't that often) the more I like him! He's a hoot!

Yesterday, Belle and I were watching it...she really enjoys this show...I did at that age too...maybe it's because she and Drew share the same birth date??? LOL...

Back to our regular programming...

As we were watching, it was during the bidding of a revolving bubble chair:

A revolving bubble chair???? OKAY....they describe it as being a masterpiece of reduction...Drew Carey kept asking the contestants, "How much would you like to bid on this masterpiece fo reduction?" and then would crack up laughing...so did I...it was pretty funny.
Today when asking Belle what the masterpiece of reduction was again...I was thinking it was a couch, (see how much I really watch?) she said it was a revolving bubble chair...so I googled to find the pic...I said, "How much was it on the show? Because it's $1699.99 online." Belle said, "That's because that's not the retail price, that's the rip off price!" LOL!!!
But the actually 'masterpiece of reduction' is from another company...http://www.highbrowfurniture.com/seating/products/8360/
If you want to see the original clip... It's about 7 minutes into the show...http://www.cbs.com/daytime/the_price_is_right/video/video.php?cid=559221502&pid=B9r2_jZ5sp2j5F8PVFR_AP2IAa0NXz1N&category=recent&play=true
Weekend Blessings!

Influential People

For the past couple days I've been pondering about writing this post. I thought I would share some of the people/thoughts that have influenced my walk with the LORD. I thought you might be inspired or think about things and people that have influenced your walk too.

Pastor Hallam-our pastor in the Houston area for several years. When I look in his beautiful blue eyes, I truly see the love and compassion of JESUS, like no one I've ever met before. He absolutely practices what he preaches. One of the key things that he taught me...and this is funny, because actually, I wasn't even in the service. I was in the nursery the night he shared it and I got a copy of the service afterwards. We were going through a really rough time. DH was painting his parent's home in the country about 2 hours away. I was going to drive there after service. I listened to Pastor's teaching on the way. I listened to over and over and over again...
Pastor said, "Faith comes by hearing and hearing the WORD of GOD. Sometimes you have to hear yourself speak the WORD outloud so that you can hear it and it can get down into your spirit man." It made total sense to me...

Tiz Huch, Larry Huch's wife-One time I was at a Women's Conference at our church and Tiz Huch said, "Did you know in the average person's lifetime, they have the ability to influence approximately 10,000 people?" WOW! Now wouldn't it be nice it they were all good ones? ;P I like to say that to the grocery clerk when checking out. It often brings a smile to his/her face and has brought on some pretty interesting conversations.

Jesse DuPlantis-"Doubt the devil's doubt" I love this!!! Think about it...when we doubt his doubt, we are using faith!!!

Jerry Savelle-"When you've done all to do, STAND!" I've heard and done this one more than once! What does that mean? It means, when you've done all you can do in the natural and in the spiritual, wait on GOD! (Look at Ephesians 6:13) You've put on your armor, you've done what you can do to follow and obey, now STAND. (sometimes this one takes awhile to sink in) It was funny, because Bro. Jerry use to get on an outfit that represented the whole armor of GOD and he had arrows all stuck in his armor, but they didn't go through the armor...it was funny to look at...and always made people laugh.

Rachel Burchfield-I saw her speak at the same Women's Conference as Tiz Huch. She was sharing a story about how to give thanks in all things. She would be cleaning her kids/dh's muddy shoes and socks up for the umteenth time. She said she would gripe, and then one day the LORD convicted her and she started praising HIM. She would pick up the item, and then started singing and praising something like, "LORD thank you for my son's two healthy legs and feet" She really put things into perceptive. She had such a delightful disposition. Now if I can only put this into practice more often. ;P

These are just a few of many people/things that have influenced my walk with the LORD over the past several years. These are some off the top of my head. I've been so blessed by these words and examples. These spiritual mentors -'m so thankful to all of them. My life has been forever changed because of their example of JESUS in their own lives. I hope that I can be that same kind of example.

Blessings until next time!

Veteran's Day 2008

Being free doesn't come without a price. It's sad that so many men and women have lost their lives for our freedom, but without them, we wouldn't have freedom. Thank you to all the families that have lost love ones for our freedom. Thank you for giving up your today, so we can have a tomorrow.
Greater love has no man, than a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13

Respect

I was speaking to a VERY conservative friend the other day. We were talking about the election. I knew she would not be happy about the election results. She mention that she wants to bring her kids up to respect the office of the presidency. I mentioned I know how hard that will be with the lack of values and value of life the newly elected president seems to hold.

After I got off the phone with her I started thinking about it. I became convicted. I realized that I need to teach my kids to respect this new president elect. I need to tell them why from what I feel like GOD showed me.

Here's why...
We might be in a place like Esther one day...the only way we will be able to save ourselves (sort of speak) is by showing respect and the love of JESUS. Maybe things won't get this bad...I don't know, but I want my kids to have been taught to respect and pray a person we don't agree with.

Blessings until next time!

What's in a name???

Dh did a name search...thought I'd share...under each name dh left his thoughts on the name...the last line is his too. :P

Interesting name research

Barak: means “Lightning spark”

which lightning usually is associated with a storm and Darkness….

Hussein: means “Handsome one”

His looks were the faction that bought him the presidency…..

Obama: means “Slightly bent”

His platform of change that was and still is being spoken is just a mence of words that talk about nothing or Speaking in circles without answering the question……

If you don’t think we are in trouble, just look at the name. and if you still feel like he is the answer, then you need more help than you know…..
******
I found this while researching the name Barak...someone commented on one of the hs boards I post that it meant blessing...this is what I found...
It means in Arabic...blessing...
in hebrew it means lightening...

The Rise of a New Socialism...

Here's a great article by Perry Stone...I kinda think in the next few weeks, months, years, I'll be using his information a lot....
http://www.voe.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=110

and then here's another great article...
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/nov/04/treasury-submits-to-shariah/

I can't even begin to articulate

I can't even begin to articulate my feelings or thoughts on the election.
I am very disappointed and sad...I know to trust GOD and I will do that. I'm not sure if I'm sad for America as a whole, or only those that don't know HIM. But I am indeed sad...if they only knew the truth...and if they only understood Bible prophecy. It's not looking good for lots of people...including those that say they know the LORD. I'm not trying to speak gloom and doom, just that history always repeats itself...this won't be too fun, except on if you're planning on leaving on the Gospel ship high in the sky soon.

Perry Stone spoke at Campmeeting tonight...it was good...really good....

I'm tired...and glad that even though I'm sad, I'm thankful the election process is over for now. I'm also thankful that GOD didn't just fall off HIS throne and didn't see this coming. I believe we did have the opportunity to bend GOD's ear...I don't believe everything is predestined. Agree or not...I don't care...but this is my blog and I would appreciate if you respect my opinions.

Blessings until next time.

FINALLY!!!

Yep, ELECTION DAY 2008 is FINALLY here...
We will have a new president, vice president, house, congress, etc...many are concerned...many are worried about finances, the economy...what WILL happen to the United States?

The other night Campmeeting at our home church began. Campmeeting is a 4 day/night services of special speakers. It's usually a time that old members that have moved away to start their own churches come back, etc. Most of all it is a time of refreshment in the HOLY SPIRIT!!!

Sunday night we were there. Pastor gave an encouraging word before the guest speaker spoke.
Pastor talked about the economy, finances, and the election. One thing that really stood out that Pastor said was, There are going to be people that are angry if Obama gets elected. There are going to be people angry if McCain gets elected. It's our job as the church (personal side note...this doesn't refer to the building here...it refers to the body of believers) to help a hurting nation. It is our job to show them the light. We don't put our trust in a man, we put our trust in the KING of KINGS and the LORD of LORDS!!!

YES, we do!!! HALLELUJAH!!! PRAISE the LORD!!!!

So, will I be disappointed if one person is elected over the other? YES, but does that sway my trust in GOD and HIS faithfulness? NO!!! I don't represent an Elephant or a Donkey. I am a SHEEP! I represent the KING. HE is my HOPE, I choose to trust HIM and HIM alone. How about you?

Sunday Sing-Along

Because of Election Day on Tuesday, I'm posting this song this week. This is one of my heart's desires...that GOD will still bless America, when we humble ourselves and seek HIS face and turn away from our wicked ways.

FATHER GOD in the mighty name of JESUS, I come before YOU and ask for YOUR forgiveness where we as a nation have failed YOU. Where we have allowed material possessions, pornography, abortion, murder, stealing, and so many other crimes become the norm in our country. I ask that YOU would allow people to see YOUR truth, and those of us that know better would seek YOUR face, humble ourselves and turn from our wicked ways and pray, and then according to YOUR WORD YOU will heal our land. Oh GOD it is my desire to do that.,..to seek YOUR face with all of my being, it is my desire to humble myself and be used by YOU and LORD, that others may see YOU in me. LORD, I ask that YOU would show mercy and grace to our country and forgive us and then bless us. LORD, just as Abraham approached YOU and asked YOU to save the righteous with the wicked in Genesis 18, LORD, I ask that on behalf of America now. I thank YOU that YOU are a loving and just GOD and that it is YOUR desire for us to prosper and have only good things, but I also know that we must be lovingly punished when we have done wrong. I thank YOU, FATHER for all the blessings YOU have bestowed upon me and my family. I thank YOU for all the blessings YOU have given the people of our nation. I thank YOU that YOU continue to bless us and that if you disipline it is fair and just. In JESUS' Name. AMEN

Obama's Redistribution Plan-in a nutshell...

I found this posted on a homeschool board I visit. I love it...

Yesterday on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read "Vote Obama, I need the money." I laughed.
Once in the restaurant my server had on an "Obama 08" tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference--just imagine the coincidence.
When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept.
He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside.
The server angrily stormed from my sight.I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I've decided he could use the money more.
The homeless guy was grateful.
At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more.
I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

Sunday Sing-Along

Here's another song I heard on the radio the other day. I basically had quit listening to Christian radio here at home, because the two Christian radio stations we have here, play the same thing over and over again...it gets so old...I started listening to Christian music on Sirrus radio, but again, after a day or so, I'm listening to the same old stuff. Since I've been back in the Houston area, I've been listening to my favorite Christian radio station, KSBJ. Even though KSBJ isn't like it use to be...which I miss, it's still one of the best Christian radio stations to me...of course I'm kinda partial to it...dh helped get it started years and years ago. ;) The words on the screen are in Spanish-it's the only version I could find on YouTube, but the song is in English-lol :)

Mainstay-"Where your Heart Belongs"

You lost yourself in finding out
the wonders of the world will let you down
You gave yourself to those who never cared about your soul
They only cared for their own
It seems everyone has left you

You're not alone, I hear you call
And I've been waiting her for you through it all
You're not alone, come to the cross
And let me show you where your heart belongs

You've been down the darkest roads
and you know just how it feels to lose your hope
But don't give up on everything
when everyone has given up on you
And it feels like everyone has left you

I will never leave you, come back to my open arms
To the only love you need

Apparently Dh has put us all on a diet ;)

A couple years ago, dh and I were doing the Southbeach diet. One day while he was out with Doodles, they stopped at Sonic to get her some food. Dh asked Doodles for a tater tot and then told her, Your mother is starving me on this darn diet! LOL

The girls and I went to a baby shower today. Dh and ds stayed home and worked on stuff around the house. Dh was suppose to make Buffalo wings for dinner, but was too tired and I mentioned something about wanting Papa John's pizza...he decided to run to the store. He brought home some frozen pizzas...when I went out to get some, I found out that apparently dh was putting us all on a diet! LOL! He only bought 2 frozen pizzas...this probably would have been enough a couple of years ago, but ds eats at least 1 frozen pizza by himself! I just had to give dh a hard time about it! :P

Pretty Powerful...

My friend, Pam, introduced me to a new song tonight...and I wasn't sure if I heard of the artist or not, so I went on a hunt to find out if I had or not. Instead of figuring that out, I found an interesting letter written by a BLACK, Christian concert pianist, named Huntley Brown. (Warning: GRAPHIC CONTENT)

Maybe you've seen this, maybe not. Here's a copy of his letter:

Why I Can’t Vote For Obama

First I must say whoever wins the election will have my prayer support. Obama needs to be commended for his accomplishments, but I need to explain why I will not be voting for him.

Many of my friends process their identity through their blackness.

I process my identity through Christ. Being a Christian (a Christ follower) means He leads I follow. I can’t dictate the terms He does because He is the leader. I can’t vote black because I am black; I have to vote Christian because that’s who I am. Christian first, black second. Neither should anyone from the other ethnic groups vote because of ethnicity. 200 years from now I won’t be asked if I was black or white. I will be asked if I knew Jesus and accepted Him as Lord and Savior.

In an election there are many issues to consider but when a society gets abortion, same-sex marriage, embryonic stem-cell research, human cloning, to name a few, wrong, economic concerns will soon not matter.

We need to follow Martin Luther King’s words, “Don’t judge someone by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” I don’t know Obama so all I can go off is his voting record.

His voting record earned him the title of the most liberal senator in the US Senate in 2007.
NATIONAL JOURNAL: Obama: Most Liberal Senator in 2007 (01/31/2008)

To beat Ted Kennedy and Hilary Clinton as t he most liberal senator, takes some doing. Obama accomplished this feat in 2 short years. I wonder what would happen to America if he had four years to work with.

There is a reason planned parenthood gives him a 100 % rating.
There is a reason the homosexual community supports him.
There is a reason Ahmadinejad, Chavez, Castro, Hamas etc. love him.
There is a reason he said he would nominate liberal judges to the Supreme Court.
There is a reason he voted against the infanticide bill.
There is a reason he voted No on the constitutional ban of same-sex marriage.
There is a reason he voted No on banning partial birth abortion.
There is a reason he voted No on confirming Justices Roberts and Alito.
These two judges are conservatives and they have since overturned partial birth abortion. The same practice Obama wanted to continue.

Let’s take a look at the practice he wanted to continue.
The 5 Step Partial Birth Abortion procedure
1. Guided by ultrasound, the abortionist grabs the baby’s leg with forceps. (Remember this is a live baby)
2. The baby’s leg is pulled out into the birth canal.
3. The abortionist delivers the baby’s entire body, except for the head.
4. The abortionist jams scissors into the baby’s skull. The scissors are then opened to enlarge the hole.
5. The scissors are removed and a suction catheter is inserted. The child’s brains are sucked out, causing the skull to collapse. The dead baby is then removed. God help him.

There is a reason Obama opposed the parental notification law. Think about this: you can’t give a kid an aspirin without parental notification but that same kid can have an abortion without parental notification. This is insane.

There is a reason he went to Jeremiah Wright’s church for 20 years. Obama tells us he has good judgment but he sat under Jeremiah Wright teaching for 20 years. Now he is condemning Wright’s sermons. I wonder why now? Obama said Jeremiah Wright led him to the Lord and discipled him. A disciple is one in training. Jesus told us in Matthew 28:19 - 20 ‘Go and make disciples of all nations.’ This means reproduce yourself. Teach people to think like you, walk like you, talk like you believe what you believe etc. The question I have is what did Jeremiah Wright teach him?

Would you support a White President who went to a church which has tenets that said they have a:
1. Commitment to the White Community
2. Commitment to the White Family
3. Adherence to the White Work Ethic
4. Pledge to make the fruits of all developing and acquired skills available to the White Community
5. Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting White Institutions
6. Pledge allegiance to all White leadership who espouse and embrace the White Value System
7. Personal commitment to embracement of the White Value System.

Would you support a President who went to a church like that?

Just change the word from white to black and you have the tenets of Obama’s former church. If President Bush was a member of a church like this, he would be called a racist. Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton would have been marching outside. This kind of church is a racist church. Obama did not wake up after 20 years and just discovered he went to a racist church. The church can’t be about race. Jesus did not come for any particular race. He came for the whole world.

A church can’t have a value system based on race. The churches value system has to be based on biblical mandate. It does not matter if it’s a white church or a black church it’s still wrong. Anyone from either race that attends a church like this would never get my vote.

Obama’s former Pastor Jeremiah Wright is a disciple of liberal theologian James Cone, author of the 1970 book A Black Theology of Liberation. Cone once wrote: ‘Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. Cone is the man Obama’s mentor looks up to. Does Obama believe this?

So what does all this mean for the nation?

In the past when the Lord brought someone with the beliefs of Obama to lead a nation it meant one thing - judgment.

Read 1 Samuel 8 when Israel asked for a king. First God says in 1 Samuel 1:9 ‘Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will do.'

Then God says: 1 Samuel 1:18 ‘When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, and the LORD will not answer you in that day.’ 19 But the people refused to listen to Samuel. ‘No!’ they said. ‘We want a king over us. 20 Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.’ 21 When Samuel heard all that the people said, he repeated it before the LORD. 22 The LORD answered, ‘Listen to them and give them a king.’

Here is what we know for sure.

God is not schizophrenic

He would not tell one person to vote for Obama and one to vote for McCain. As the scripture says, a city divided against itself cannot stand, so obviously many people are not hearing from God.

Maybe I am the one not hearing but I know God does not change and Obama contradicts many things I read in scripture, so I doubt it.

For all my friends who are voting for Obama, can you really look God in the face and say; Father based on your word, I am voting for Obama even though I know he will continue the genocidal practice of partial birth abortion. He might have to nominate three or four supreme court justices, and I am sure he will be nominating liberal judges who will be making laws that are against you. I also know he will continue to push for homosexual rights, even though you destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for this. I know I can look the other way because of the economy.

I could not see Jesus agreeing with many of Obama’s positions. Finally I have two questions for all my liberal friends.

Since we know someone’s value system has to be placed on the nation,

1. Whose value system should be placed on the nation?

2. Who should determine that this is the right value system for the nation?

Blessings,
Huntley Brown
