???? for Dummies

Have you seen the hundreds of books titled "???? for Dummies"?  They have all kinds of titles.  "Cooking for Dummies", "Internet for Dummies", etc.

I have a problem with this.  I may not be educated in a certain subject, but does that make me a dummy in it?  The BIBLE says I have the mind of CHRIST.

"Yeah, but those are just titles for a book, they don't mean you are dumb."  My response to that is, "Life and death are in the power of our tongue."  Proverbs 18:21.

We as Christians are suppose to speak GOD things, good things over ourselves.  It's all part of learning to change our mindset.  (which I posted about the other day, in case you missed it)

So it may be trivial to you, but I don't like the title of those books, and avoid them.

Blessings!

ONE of my FAV and one that I personally consider a GOOD, SOLID, and Informational book on Catholicism is called "Catholicism for Dummies". I have learn so much from it! :) I even recommend to others when they truly want to learn about Catholicism. :) Have a good one Bobbi

@SAHMinIL-I think you're kinda missing my point. I have no problem learning, but it's insulting to the children of GOD to be called anything less than what HIS WORD says. It's too bad they can't call them something else...maybe like Books for the unexperienced...

I've never liked those titles either. We need to watch what goes in our gates. What goes in will eventually come out and I want good things coming out of me.

I, too, have a problem with these book titles. Just because I don't know a lot about a certain subject does not make me a "dummy." I teach my kids not to use language like that, so why would I buy a book with that in the title? Catchy does not mean it's ok. I think we need to stop overlooking things that are so obviously bad, laughing them off. Is there an Islam for Dummies? A Black History for Dummies? Feminism for Dummies? Or do we need to respect Political Correctness in some subjects but sideswipe others? We need to let God be the God of our language, our reading material, as well as our thoughts. So, yes, Bobbi, like you, I do think it matters.

Yes there is an Islam for dummies and Amazon has it. There is an African American History for dummies (can be found on Amazon), Does that count for Black History? :) To my knowledge there is NOT a feminism for dummies, but I wouldn't be surprise if there was. As Bobbi stated in her post there are hundreds of titles, and there are more titles every year. :)

I don't quite see it the same as you all, but I can and DO respect your insight on the topic.
