One Last Post for 2010

2010 I'm glad to see you end.  It hasn't been a bad year, it hasn't been great either. I think I'll reflect on this and think about how I've changed....

I think I'm probably furthest from the LORD then I ever have been in my walk.  :(  Not a good thing, but I'm being honest.  Yet I heard a friend one time say, the time I thought I was the furthest from the LORD I look back, and I might have been the closest.  HMMM, I hope I can say that someday.  I'm not saying the LORD hasn't had me in the palm of HIS hand, I just not "feelin" it...um yeah, I know we don't go by what we feel....

I don't think I met any of my goals that I set in January.  :(  Do I feel like a failure?  Um, yes and no, thankfully the LORD's mercies are new everyday.  :)  So I'll set new goals and go from there.  I might make them, I might not...but at least I set something to achieve.  :)

I'd appreciate prayer for 2011. I'm struggling in areas I thought I had dealt with and put behind me.  Perhaps the LORD is raising me up to a higher standard...unfortunately, I think I'm failing miserably.

  • Also, pray the dh's job will go direct, or provide until we can get the BBQ business in full gear
  • For oldest dd, that the LORD will give her direction and that she'll move that way
  • For ds, that he'll hear the LORD and make the necessary directions
  • For dd, that she'll continue to serve and grow in the LORD
  • For my friends, several are going through many difficult situations that they've never dealt with before.
Hope you all have a wonderful New Years.
Blessings!

Giving Thanks-Day 5

Today I'm thankful the opportunity to know a lovely Christian lady, Stephanie Barnes.  She went to be with the LORD earlier this week.  She was a beautiful example of CHRIST's love to her family and friends.  May her family feel the love and comfort that only HE can provide.  She leaves behind her dh and her 6 beautiful children.

We went to ALCC together.  She also homeschooled for 14 years.
Her homegoing is very bittersweet.

My daily $.02

The capacity to love or hate is not based on feelings, circumstances, or distance. It is however based on a choice that you make daily.

If you're a Christian that choice is through JESUS CHRIST, but even if you're not you have the choice to love or hate someone.  You're just choosing to go about it the long way.  ;)

Deuteronomy 30:19 (King James Version)

19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
Blessings until next time!

explanation

I am so thankful that even when I am angry with GOD, HE never leaves me or forsakes me.  I'm glad that HE is patiently waiting for me to come back to HIM, that HE is not angry with me, just because I was/am with HIM.  HE knows I'm angry, HE knows I'm mad...why should I try to lie or hide it from HIM?

On the otherhand, I will not post negative thoughts from what I know is the TRUTH, HIS TRUTH, just because I am angry....therefore I haven't been posting.  I'm not going to let my anger cause someone to stumble...I have been stumbling, I have been falling.  Hence Saturday's post/song.  So if you're wondering where I've been...that's what's going on.

so many uses....

Dh and I got married at the Justice of the Peace.  We saved tons of time and money.  I still have NO regrets to this day.  (and no it wasn't a shotgun wedding!)

Not that I endorse divorce...but this site is hysterical, AND  one could do this with their wedding dress if they want to use it more than once and not pass it on.

"Porno BBQ-WHAT?"

This weekend my dad and bonus mom came for a visit up from TX.  I haven't seen them since May '09, so needless to say I was delighted!

Hank was at the convenience store selling BBQ on Saturday.  Dad and Annie decided to go over there first from their hotel.  I was wondering where they were and decided to head over there, knowing they said they would be around here at noon.  When I got there, they indeed were there, enjoying some of Hank's famous, "Wholley Smoke BBQ".

Dad and Annie were encouraging us and my dad said something like, "Think of this as the road to recovery and prosperity. Poor no more."  I hollered at Hank, "Hey maybe we should have called it Poor No More BBQ!"  He didn't hear me, but Annie looked at me and said, Porno BBQ?  WHAT?

Where I proceeded to crack up laughing and I said, "Um, NO, Poor no more BBQ, Annie.  That would be funny.  We could have naked chicken breasts on Hank's teeshirt logo!"  ROFLOL

Needless to say, that joke will probably stick around as a family joke for sometime!

Blessings until next time!

GRACE

The other day, feeling rather down by this whole situation, My oldest and I went to Costco.  I got my purchases and as I was leaving, the lady to check my receipt said, "Hello ma'am how are you today?"  My usual response, "Fine thank you, how are you today?"  Her response was, "Blessed".

I almost started crying.  As I walked out, I realized how much grace and love GOD had extended to me-a sinner.  HE saved me with HIS grace.  HE's carried me through many circumstances with HIS grace.  HIS GRACE is sufficient for me.  I just needed that reminder. (I almost went back in a gave her a hug and told her thank you.)

Not that much of the circumstance has changed, but I know I have grace when I'm feeling low and I think HE's not listening.  HE knows...and for that I am very thankful of.  I still make mistakes, I still need HIS forgiveness.  Some days I feel I'm as far away from HIM as I could possibly be.  My thoughts are on temporary things of this world and in HIS still small voice HE whispers in my spirit and the utterances come through.  That ALWAYS amazes me!

I'm reminded of this song...http://www.brucecarroll.com/imstillhere

GOD will provide

Well, as of tomorrow....DH is unemployed again,  :(  He was told yesterday.  No projects=no work.
Prayers would be appreciated.  We knew it was coming.  sigh...There's not a lot out there in his field.  Hopefully, the company will get flooded with projects or another job will come quickly.

The BBQ pit is done.  DH still has to make the concessions part, but he's been selling meat since Labor Day Weekend, on the weekends.  We are making enough to cover the cost of meat, but that's about it.

This is becoming rather overwhelming.  I try to stay focused on the WORD and GOD's promises, but I'm not seeing a change.  That makes me sad.  Because I know in my heart, there should be one.  It's frustrating, because when nothing changes, it's hard in the flesh to continue to stand...

I woke up to this sometime this morning...early....after get another restless night sleep.

Genesis 22:1-18

1And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.

2And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

3And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.

4Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.

5And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.

6And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.

7And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?

8And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

9And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.

10And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.

11And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.

12And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.

13And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.

14And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.

15And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,

16And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:

17That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;

18And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

So even in my doubt, GOD's promises are true, and HE's reminding me of that.  It's all a matter of HIS timing.
Blessings until next time!

ALL

For all have sinned and come short of the glory of GOD. Romans 3:23

I woke up with that on my heart in the middle of the night.

ALL have sinned.  ALL!  None of us are better or worse than another.
If we tell a "white" lie, we have sinned. Sin is SIN in GOD's eyes!  We have to rise above it through HIS grace.  We have to go to the throne and ask for forgiveness.
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"  I John 1:9

We are sinners, saved by grace, if we know HIM.

And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.  Matthew 19:17
There are a lot of good people out there, but if they don't know JESUS as the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIGHT, they are going to perish.  Sad, but true.

It is our responsiblity to let our light shine, so they may see the TRUTH.  It is NOT our job to judge.

I know many random thoughts lumped into one...but this is what is on my heart.  I don't know why...

Blessings until next time!

24

24 hours in a day, 24 years to my sweetie!
The traditional wedding gift for 24 years...well actually, according to this site there isn't a traditional gift, because anniversaries gifts were for every five years.  But in modern times it says musical gifts...such as concert tickets, CD's, or an MP3 Player.
Well on that note...(hahaha, that note, I didn't even mean to say that) here's a song for my sweetie, because I hope it will always be paradise!

Faith Level

"Our FAITH level is determined by our WORD level."

I was scanning the radio and  heard this Monday while driving in the truck on the way home from a very blessed weekend in TX.  How very true this is!  I didn't catch who said it though, but it goes along the same lines as this Bible verse:

Romans 10:17 (King James Version)

17So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

This reminds me of one of my favorite sermons I heard our Pastor at home teach many years ago.  (I'm sure I've shared this before, but it is one of my favorites, and this is my blog.  :P)

I was in the nursery tending to the babies on a Wednesday night.  Dh was in Brenham painting his mom and dad's country house.  When we worked in the nursery we would get a copy of the sermon.  I got my copy, and then the kids and I were going to drive up to see dh.  (Brenham was about an hour and a half from our house)  As I was driving, I listened to the tape.  (ah yeah, cassette tape, it was the 90's-lol)

Pastor was saying that sometimes we need to audibly hear the WORD of GOD to get it into our spirit.  He said sometimes you have to speak the WORD of GOD out loud so that your physical ear hears it, then it can get into your spirit man.

I had to listen to the tape over and over again.  Then it all clicked!  (love when GOD does that)  We have to stay focused on the WORD!  Sometimes we have to hear it, read it out loud so our spirit man can absorb it.

Now I realize this isn't what this quote was saying, but it reminded me of this story.  Our faith level can only increase as our WORD level increases.  Remember that saying?  "Garbage in, Garbage out"  Well that's the same thing as the WORD-if we intake the WORD of GOD, what comes out?  The WORD of GOD-FAITH!

I have to admit, I haven't been diligent lately about the WORD of GOD...as probably seen in my posts of late.  My apologies to you the reader and to my FATHER.

Blessings until next time!

The Stars at Night are Big and Bright, Deep in the Heart of Texas!

After over a year, we went to Texas this weekend, to say goodbye to my sister-in-law and her family.  They are moving to England.  Her Dh is in the air force.  They are suppose to be there 4 years.  Currently, they live outside of Wichita Falls.

We also drove down to Frisco, a suburb of Dallas.  My oldest daughter has a friend that plays ball for the Frisco Rough Riders.  He and his wife our friends of her's on facebook and when she told them we were coming down, they left us tickets to the game.  They are a very sweet and loving young couple!  We were truly blessed.

Sunday, we spent the day just chillin' and eating.  Dh and the bil, both fixed their versions of hot wings, and dh  also grilled some ribs.  We had beans, coleslaw, and corn.  We also had homemade brownies that Bella and her aunt made with ice cream and we topped the day off with buttered popcorn. YUM!

It was so great to be in our home state again. There something that comes over me everytime we get back to the stateline, I can't explain it.  I do know the stars are bigger and brighter in Texas.  :D  (Actually, we saw the most magnificent shooting star on the way back to my sil's Saturday night from the ball game) I miss it so, but I know for know KS is where the LORD wants us.

Blessings until next time!

Sliced Bread, Barrels of Kraut, and Star Gazing...

Other than GOD created them, what do these 3 have in common?  Not a thing that I can think of other than that was my yesterday...

I made corn beef on Wednesday in the crockpot so we could have ruben sandwiches.  I told dh we needed kraut, cheese, and bread.  He wanted to come home for lunch, so he picked up two huge jars!  I called him later and asked him if he still had the receipt for the barrels of kraut...LOL  I said, "We don't even go through a can, it would take us forever to get through just one jar!"

So then, I went to get the bread, because Wally world didn't have rye...imagine that, with all the bread they do have, no rye?  So I went to the grocery store.  I was looking in the bread section.  I see sliced bread...I see dark rye and jewish rye...they want a ridiculous price for hardly any bread.  I see the bakery...I think to myself, "Hmmm, maybe they have some over there."  I walk over and see whole loaves of rye-dark and jewish rye...not sliced though...go over to the counter.  Now this might seem like a stupid question, but seriously I didn't know.  I ask the gal, "Do you slice bread?  You know if it's a full loaf?"  She replies, "Yes, we do."  I go get the loaves....then as she is slicing them I see a self slicer right in front of me...boy do I feel like an idiot...I mention something about that, and she says, "Don't worry about it."  :D

Last night there was suppose to be a meteor shower.  Dh and Ds went out to gaze at it.  They were out for awhile, but I didn't know that's what they were doing, so I went out to find out what they were doing.  I see them both in lounge chairs gazing up.  I decide to stay out too.  I ended up staying out there for over an hour.  I wonder why I don't do that more often.  I love to look up at the stars and think of GOD's creation.  So peaceful and quiet, a nice gentle breeze was blowing-it was perfect for gazing at the stars!

Favorite new book series...

I've been reading a lot lately.  My new favorite series is "Weddings by Bella".  It's a three part series of a gal named Bella who takes over her BIG Italian family's wedding coordinating business.  The books are funny, entertaining, easy reading, romantic, wholesome, and the best part is they are Christian. They will make you laugh and cry (in a good way).  If you're a Texan you'll love them even more, because they take place in Galveston and the Houston area.  I love them so much that I wish the writer, Janice Thompson, would do another book in the series!

I'm currently reading another series-"The Alcott Legacy" by Maryann Minatra.  I got all three books on sale at Family Christian Bookstore the other day.  I'm about 3/4 of the way done with the first book, The Tapestry.  It's about love and loss during the Civil War.  So far I'm enjoying it.  Again, another Christian writer.

I've also recently reread the Love Comes Softly Series...love these books and a couple other Christian fiction books.

Blessings until next time!

Common Sense

Maybe it's just me...but I really thinking this generation lacks common sense.  sigh...

For example there is this sign when you enter the park:

Then there's this one:

or how about this one when you get up to the front of the booth:

So if that's the case, why do I get questions like:

Do I need a permit to come into the park?
I'm just dropping off so and so, do I need a permit?
I'm going over to the marina, do I need a permit? (the marina is in the park)
We just want to drive around the park, do we need a permit?

Or how about these pictures-what do you suppose these mean?

or this one?

or how about this one?
But instead, what does a car do today, right in front of the ranger?
Yes, I'm serious!

And how about this sign?

This is by far the most annoying!  Because I get questions like this:
The beach is closed?  (um that's what the sign says, the beach has been closed almost all summer)
When will the beach be open? (um, now how would I know that?  maybe when the water goes down?)
Why is there high water?  (um perhaps because it rained for days?)
AND before we had due to high water and the sign just said, "Beach closed"
we would get things like?
Why is the beach closed?  It's not because of e-coli is it?  (Seriously if it was e-coli, ONE, wouldn't it be all over the news?  TWO, would we even have the park open?  THREE, would we allow you to go boating?)

Sometimes I wish Jay Leno was standing by to record these....LOL
Blessings until next time!

Praise GOD to whom all blessings flow!

Today, I received a call from dh.
The conversation went something like this:
DH:  What are you doing?
Me:  Getting ready to take the kids to the mall.  What are you doing?
DH:  Looking over an offer letter for work!

YES!  The company offered dh full time, permanent work.  PTL!!! Looks like KS will be home for awhile!  :D
Thanks to all of you that have been praying!

Let me tell you what!

Bella and I got new bikes last week.  They are the old fashioned push pedal, brake pedal type.  I haven't had a new bike in 25 years.  Before we moved to ND, I got rid of my old 10 speed in a garage sale.  I seldom rode that bike.  I could never get use to the brakes on the handle bars and never did understand how to do all the gears.  I was raised on an old brake type-so I was happy to see them making a come back!  :D  Bella and my bikes looks like this only a different color.  She got a light blue and I got a fushia color.

Let me tell you what!  WHAT!!!  LOL...riding a bike at 45 is NOT the same as riding a bike when I was 13!  (Well that and the fact, I'm so out of shape!)  I can barely make it up a small incline.  I can't imagine riding up an actually hill!  Thankfully, the park has a nice loop about a mile long, that I've been able to go around a few times each night, with very small inclines.  I think I'll just keep working on that before I take any hills!  But I can imagine in a few months time, if I keep it up, I'll be a tad slimmer!  (well I hope so, at least)

Blessings until next time!

A book...

For years I've thought about writing a book.  I've had people tell me I should write a book about our travels.  I've prayed about it often.  I even had dh buy me my first laptop so I could start one...um that was about 10 years ago...lol.

Yesterday, I woke up with the very words to start the book.  I thought it would be more of short stories or autobiography kind of book.  So far it's turning out to be more of a novel.  :D  Kind of like the "Love Comes Softly" books, only more modern and about my life.

It's an exciting adventure...I wonder if I'll get published?  Maybe they'll make a movie?  LOL...well all things ARE possible with GOD...who knows?  :D  (I do have many family members that are in Hollywood-producers, directors, actors, cameramen, etc.)

Blessings until next time.

Distorted Mirror Imagine

When someone is faced with the truth, they have two choices.  They can accept it or they can choose to ignore it.

Recently, my dh contacted a family member that he use to be very close to.  As a matter of fact his family and our family were very close.  We would spend time visiting them and they would come and visit us.  We shared the LORD with them.  The Mrs. got saved.  It looked like Mr. would too.  (Mr is the family member.)

Then we got very sad news...Mr. was leaving Mrs. for another.  :(   It broke our hearts.  We prayed.  Mr. quit communication with us.  We still kept in contact with Mrs. and the Juniors-mind you Mr. is the family member, in case you forgot.  ;)

A few years ago, we went through a raging spiritual battle.  It was very painful to our family.  I won't go into the details, other than to say many lies were told about us and there are still those that are spreading them and those that are believing them.  I have been able to overcome the hurt and pain by reminding myself time and time again....
Ephesians 6:12 (King James Version)

12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

As I said earlier, recently dh has contacted Mr.  Mr.  has chose to believe the lies of the raging spiritual battle that took place.  :(  This morning as I was praying the LORD showed me why he chose this way.
Mr has heard the TRUTH.  Mr knows the TRUTH.  Mr has chose not to live the TRUTH.

So why did Mr choose to believe the lies?  Because then Mr would have to look at the TRUE imagine in the mirror.  He would have to deal with his sin and the lies he has built up.  Mr has decided not to persue a relationship with dh because dh represents those TRUTHS.  Mr thinks he can avoid "conflict" (his words, not mine) by not having people around him that keep in touch with his exwife and kids.  HA!  He apparently doesn't realize the conflict is with his inner man and the outer man can keep those "conflicts" at a distance, but he will still have conflict. It's sad, and it hurts to see dh hurt so much.  This man was like a brother to him, but  he  (dh) knows that it's spiritual.

Mr has built of this distorted view of dh based on lies, so that he doesn't have to deal with the TRUTH.  Yes, sad, but very true!

Will you join us in prayer for Mr and those involved?  He will be a part of many prayers to come in our future.

My heart is deeply saddened for the fact that Mr might never turn to the LORD and get this right.  Yes, I realize that is his choice, but when I think about him standing before the LORD trying to explain, I get a lump in my throat, and my eyes welt up with tears.  That will be a sad day indeed, if Mr chooses not to make things right, and I don't want to be standing nearby.  :(

I'm sure this is probably difficult to understand, but thanks for reading and praying.
Blessings until next time!

Lost Art...

Haven't felt much like blogging...for that matter being on my computer lately.  I've taken up reading books again-almost a lost art...lol.

Currently, I'm reading "The Love Softly" Series again.  I read them about 10 years ago.  I love these books.  Very encouraging and reminds me how blessed we are today to have all the modern conveniences.

Last week we had a cousin visiting.  She is Bella's age-13.  We had fun hanging out and running around town discovering more of it.

Two weeks ago, I got to meet my url friend Angela.  She lives in MO, near KC.  She and her daughters met us at Barnes and Nobles and we had a Starbucks. :D    I met Angela on the Homeschool Lounge and we've kept in touch on FB too.  She's a beautiful lady on the outside-model beautiful!  But she is even more beautiful on the inside.  Her heart is to serve the LORD!  I hope we get to meet up with her again soon!

The BBQ pit is coming along nicely.  I have news to share about that...maybe later this week.  :D

A few prayer requests:
Josh-my cousin's finance's son.  He was severely injured in Afghanistan.  He is now in the US, but still in serious condition.

Josh and Drew-some young men we've met here in the park.  (I'll share later how, etc)  job and finances

Angie-complete healing in her body.

Christy-going through some major life transitions.

I know GOD will richly reward you for praying!  :D  I can't thank you all enough.

Not much else new.  Blessings until next time!

Not just another July day

I woke up around 3 am, the pain was intensifying.  I tried to go back to sleep.  I became restless.  I finally woke dh up.  I told him the pain was coming every 15 minutes.  He wrote the times down.  We gathered our belongings, and walked down to the car.  He drove nervously.  He'll say now that he wasn't...but I knew better.  He was driving and writing times down.

We got to the hospital around 5:30, I think.  The pain was coming closer and closer together.  I got checked in....got my gown, prepped, ready to do this thing.  I was nervous,  I prayed...."LORD don't let me be foolish and say words I'll regret.  Help me not to scream, let this go smoothly and safely."

I laid and waited.  My family had been called.  My dad showed up and he and dh went for breakfast.  My sister showed up.  She held my hand.  I remember one time the pain was so bad I squeezed her hand and she started to tear up and I teared up.

The television was on...all the channels were broadcasting the Oliver North trial.  Ollie was on testifying.  This was all I had to watch other than the rain pouring down on another hot, humid July day.  BUT this wasn't just another July day, this was the day my baby girl decided to make her entrance into the world.

Finally at 1:38 pm she arrived.  The labor and delivery went smoothly.  She began to cry as the doctor removed her thumb from her mouth.  lol

I only had a local, the rest was natural.  When I was done, held her, etc., I asked  if I could finally eat.  (It had been over 24 hours)  They brought me a club sandwich.  Yum....just one thing....it had a tomato on it-yuck!  I pulled it off!  Funny how for 9 months I liked tomatoes, and the day she's delivered I hate them all over again.  lol....she still loves them!

Happy 23rd birthday my beautiful baby girl.  I'm so blessed each day by you!

Thank Goodness!

Yesterday, I was telling my dd about a friend's clean bill of health.  Our friend had received some disturbing news about her health.  After a series of testing, etc., she received a good report and all came out fine.

My daughter exclaimed, "Thank Goodness!"

Where I promptly said, "No, Thank GOD!"

 She said,  "Isn't HE GOODNESS?"

WHOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAA, NELLIE!!!!!  Revelation!

With tears in my eyes, I replied, "Yes, HE is!!!  People that don't even believe in GOD our thanking HIM when they say thank goodness.  I feel a blog post coming on!"  :D

So now the interesting thing will be to listen and hear how many people are actually thanking GOD without realizing it.

And Yes, GOD is GOODNESS.  There is NOTHING but GOODNESS in HIM.  People always want to revert back to the days of Noah and the Old Testament and say things like, "GOD is a destroyer, and I can't worship a God that destroys the earth." blah blah blah...

Honey, let me tell you something... that was the OLD TESTAMENT, when JESUS came all that changed. GOD doesn't destroy anything anymore.  HE may allow things to happen because of sin, BUT HE doesn't do it anymore.  Besides, If you can't serve the ONE, TRUE, LIVING GOD who or what are you going to worship?  Some tree?  They can't save your soul and spirit. Only the ONE, TRUE, LIVING GOD can through HIS son JESUS CHRIST!

Blessings until next time!

Not sure what to say...

Got this email from someone I love very much the other day:

Don't forget to say a "blessing" for Mom's soul today!

I did all I could not to respond with something like:

What good will it do?  She's either in Heaven or Hell.  There's no inbetween.

OR

The soul is the mind, will, and emotions. It won't do any good to pray for her soul.

sigh...or a number of other things that came racing to my mind.  But I withheld my thoughts and closed the email.

My family member (I thought) came to know the LORD about 10 years ago.  Now I question it.  I think they are going to some weird church with their spouse.  The spouse was brought up in a cult religion.

I am very concerned about this person. I would appreciate prayers, as I sift through this in my head, as to what I should say and how I should say it.

Blessings until next time!

one day closer

We are one day closer to becoming a one world government.  For those that don't understand or get it, it's in the book of Revelations.

27 Years ago and other stuff...

Twenty-seven years ago my mom past away.  As I've stated every year on this day, It seems I miss her more and more instead of less and less.  Miss you and love you, Mom!

Dh is almost done with the BBQ concessions/pit.  Soon we will be up and running for business.  What an exciting adventure!  He's still working at the company that hired him, but we don't know for how much longer.  A few weeks ago they only had another couple weeks of work, and then found another project to put him on.  PTL!  Hopefully there will be enough work for him until he is finished and we can get started selling beef!  :D

I'm enjoying working at the front gate, although somedays are a bit of a challenge.  LOL  For example, yesterday...Some guy came through and said he wanted to buy a day pass for his friend.  Mind you, at the time I thought he said friend, but then later....

Nevertheless, I took the money, asked him what make and color of the car...while he was zooming away.
He said, "Oh some kind of PT Crusier type...goldish."

A little bit later a gal with a little kid comes by, in a goldish PT Crusier type car.  Says, "My husband came and paid for an annual permit for me."  I said, "No, just a day pass."  She said, "Oh well he was going to get a annual."  I said, "Well if he did, just bring this back."

A few minutes later, a gal in a SILVER PT CRUSIER comes through and says, "My friend paid for a day pass for me."  sigh...I gave the pass to the wrong gal!

It ended up working out...the first gal's dh did indeed buy an annual earlier and I did indeed sell it to him.  BUT on my behalf...He never said his wife was coming out later to retrieve it.  lol
(thank goodness he did, and she returned the ticket, otherwise I would have had to buy the ticket, not too expensive, but I don't like making those kinds of mistakes, and would rather not have to spend $4.20)

How weird that would happen!  LOL

I've really been cutting back on computer time, so I probably will only be posting 2-3 times a week at the most here, until I feel led to post more.

Blessings until next time!

Movie Reviews and Convictions

Thought I'd give a post of some recent movies we've seen at the theater and on DVD.

Last night we saw "Toy Story 3" at the theater in 3D.  It was bittersweet.  I cried most of my mascara off.  I had heard it was better than both the first and second ones.  I'm not sure I agree.  It's basically the same story.  The toys have to make their way back to Andy, except this time Andy is on his way off to college.  I don't want to give too much of the movie away.  It's a great family movie, but bring lots of tissues if you're sensitive to your kids growing up.  ;)

We rented "The Spy Next Door" with Jackie Chan from Redbox.  I really enjoyed this movie.  Family friendly, adventure, laughs.  If you enjoyed "The Pacifier", you'll enjoy this one!

We got rid of our Dish satelite so we've joined Netflix again.  We've been renting some older movies that we haven't seen in awhile.  We rented  "The Out of Towners" with Jack Lemmon and also "The Trouble with Angels"  with Hayley Mills.  I would not recommend these for younger impressionable kids.  Now that my kids are older they enjoyed both.

I know every family is different on what they allow or don't allow in their home.  We are fairly liberal with our movie selections and usually talk about why or why not something in a movie is appropriate to GOD's WORD or not.  I've learned over the years, we all have different convictions, and what maybe one family's convictions may not be our family's convictions, and not to judge those that have different convictions than our family.  It's all a matter of growing in GOD's grace.

Thought I'd add this after writing that last paragraph.

This is from my old blog...but I consider it note worthy, so I thought I'd post it again...

I know a dear, sweet, precious lady. Everytime I'm around her I leave thinking, "I need to be more like her"...

While I was cleaning the kid's bathroom...I started thinking about this...

Other people's convictions may not be YOUR convictions from GOD. When we allow other people's convictions become our own we could actually be putting ourselves in bondage and become legalist and religious. All things JESUS came to set us free from. I'm not saying that someone's conviction is wrong for them-if GOD told them to do/not do something. But it is wrong for me to assume that that conviction should become my conviction, unless GOD tells me do/not do something.

It's taken me a long time to understand this. I would hear preachers, pastors, etc. and I then thought well I need to do this or that...I would get so upset...I would allow his conviction to become my conviction and I would become miserable! I would become depressed and angry and in turn I was putting myself into bondage. Who was I angry with? GOD? He never told me to let that become my conviction. MYSELF? Was I angry because it was something I didn't want to give up? If I were really suppose to give it up why was it so hard? GOD's WORD says "My yoke is easy and my burden is light." OTHERS? Was I angry at others because they made me feel condemned? There is no condemation for those that are in CHRIST JESUS. What was I doing? I was actually being condemned by the devil is what was taking place and then I would fall into sin because I was angry and depressed.

I'm still learning, but over the years I'm beginning to slowly grow and understand. What a great feeling not to be bound. We are free in JESUS! We are not bound by other people's convictions, only those GOD lays on our heart! What a blessing!

Blessings until next time!

A Servant Heart...

I have trouble serving people when they want to be served, however, I do not have a problem serving them on my own time and terms.  The problem with this is, I'm not serving with a servant's heart, when someone is needing to be served.  :(

Does that make sense?  For example, my dear husband needs me to do something-like bring him something or assist him with a project....often I get annoyed or I'm busy and get stressed over it.  This is not a servant's heart.  Somehow, because of this, I have past this on to my children.  (big moan....)

I was convicted of this this morning.  I started thinking about how my kids complain when they have to help their dad.  Ugh, I've taught them this.  sigh...The LORD reminded me that them (or me) serving their earthly dad (for that matter, my earthly dad) is preparation for serving their HEAVENLY FATHER.

So, I guess the first thing we must do, is ask for forgiveness, after discussing it.  Hopefully, we will move forward in the right direction.  Prayer would be appreciated.  It's not always easy changing and growing.

Blessings until next time.

Updates and other stuff...

Last week the awning broke. DH called the insurance agent.  He said the awning wasn't covered.  DH called the adjuster anyhow.  The adjuster said, "Who told you that?  We cover awnings."  PTL!

The day before dh forgot to pull the tailgate down, disconnected the RV after taking it to the dump station. :(  Now we need a new tailgate.

The day after the awning broke, I broke a taillight on the RV, trying to throw the bottom of the doghouse up on the back.  (We have a rack back there that holds our freezer up there and other stuff)

Doodles misplaced or lost her paycheck.  sigh...she already instant deposited it, so we might have mailed it already, but I really don't remember doing that. We all were very tired this weekend, and really don't remember.  We need to find the check or have it show up at the bank.

Last week dh had an uncle, on his dad's side, pass away on Tuesday (?)  and then another uncle, on his mom's side, pass away, on Saturday.  Dh and ds left Sunday to go to the second funeral.  He was very close to that Uncle.  Please pray for their safety.  The funeral is today, and then I think they are leaving to head back up this way.

Also, my cousin, Jackie, is engaged to a guy name Rob.  Rob's son was serving in Afganistan and was severely injuried.  He went through surgery and is now on life support.  Please keep the son and families in your prayers.

Blessings until next time!

BP Oil Spill

The more I hear about the BP Oil Spill the more disgusted I get with our government!  I am more and more convinced that our government sabotaged the BP rig.

The President has mentioned a number of times that he wanted to discontinue off shore drilling, not only in his election, but now in his administration.

The President has recently blamed the UK and BP for the incident-what better way to say..."See, I told you it's bad for the environment and must be stopped", then to place the blame on someone else and not take responsiblity yourself?

My husband has played an active part in designing and planning oil platform/rigs similar to BP's.  Yesterday, while talking to a friend, he said, "There is no way it could fail."  He also mentioned, that they could do something else to cap it off within the first day, and cause it not to leak all that oil.  (I don't remember how he worded the whole thing, and I don't know all the lingo of the incident, so my explanation might not come across as a strong argument, but I do know that if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck...)

There's just too many questionables out there.

Motivated by?

The other day the kids had the radio on.  They were listening to Germ Tush.  LOL...That's their name for John Tesh.  I think it's an appropriate name for him because he is always talking about germs and how to prevent them.  The guy is a germaphobic-seriously, have you heard him?

We listen to him once in awhile.  The other day while listening to him, not only was he talking about germs, he was talking about Campus Security.  As I listened, I realized that the times I've heard him on the radio, he is always talking about things to prevent something.  Now I'm all for safety and cleanliness, but I also think GOD has given us tools against these things too, if used properly.

The more I listened to Germy, I realized he, or his writers of his show, are motivated by fear.

What do I mean?  Do you recall the story of GOD's children when they were going to enter into the Promised Land? (Numbers 13:25-33) Moses sent Joshua and Caleb and some other scouts into the land.  When they returned they were to give an account of what they saw. MY paraphrased version..."The land is filled with milk and honey, BUT there are giants in the land, and we can not overtake them."  Caleb reminded them they could take the giants, but the other scouts were motivated by fear.

The children marched around a mountain for forty years....because the next thing they did was murmur and complain to Moses about going back to Eygpt.

Often times, we are motivated by fear, like the scouts and the children of Israel, because we rely on our own understanding instead of listening and obeying GOD's WORD.

How do we change this?  We meditate on GOD's WORD.  We remove the source of our fear.  We do this by not watching or listening to things that go against GOD's WORD.  We walk in faith.  Remember faith is the substance of things HOPED for, the evidence of things NOT SEEN.  (Hebrews 11:1)

We often have to change our thinking.  How do we do that? Again, we meditate on the WORD of GOD.  When the enemy tries to remind us of the thing we fear we boldly stand in faith.  We tell him, "No devil you are a liar, you have come to steal, kill, and destroy!  GOD's WORD says...." and that's when you quote GOD's WORD over the situation.  That's how we get victory!  That's how we change our thinking!  That's how we build our faith!  That's how we remove the source of fear!

If you are struggling in an area, I urge you to seek the WORD of GOD over that situation.  Learn those verses!  Meditate over those verses!  Tell satan what GOD's WORD says!  He has no power or authority over you, if you are GOD's child!  Resist the devil and he shall flee from you! (James 4:7)

Blessings until next time!

not such a good day :(

It was raining when I woke up this morning.  The ceiling had water dripping from the roof.  Somehow it comes through a speaker.  We've had problems with it before.

I wake up the kids.  I need Joe Bug to help me unscrew the speaker and stuff a towel inbetween the ceiling and the roof.  We take care of that.

The awning was also out.  It was collecting water.  I tried to close it.  I couldn't get it closed.  Somehow it snapped and bent the whole frame up.  :(

Even though it was not such a good day, I try to remember it could always be worse.

LORD, thank YOU for this day. Thank YOU that YOU will compensate what the enemy meant for evil.

Blessings until next time!

Convictions

I've recently been convicted again about the time I spend on the computer.  I spend a lot of time on here, especially on FB playing Scrabble (called something else there), but have been spending more and more time on the computer.  I've put off doing paperwork and spending time with my family.  Then this morning I decided I would spend X amount of time on the computer.  I went to my home page on FB and a friend of mine posted this article by Sproul.
http://www.ligonier.org/blog/should-christians-be-facebook/

Funny how when the LORD convicts you, HE makes sure you realize HE's talking to you!  ;)

Blessings until next time!

Memorial Day 2010

John 15:13 (King James Version)

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Thank you to those that have served, will serve, and  those that serve today.  Your sacrifice did not go unnoticed or unappreciated in this household. GOD bless each one of you!

Sunday Sing-Along

Saturday, May 29, 2010

Bless those that....

Thursday, we went to do laundry.  We have to take our dog with us, because he is an outside dog, and not allow to stay unattended at the park.  We put him in the back of the pickup, carefully tying him so he can't jump out or injury himself.  We get to the laundromat.  We unload our clothes.  While we are there, there is a gentleman out there smoking.  He clearly sees us.  He sees us attending to the dog.  Belle and I give the dog some water.  We go inside to start our clothes.  Scout starts to bark.  We go out and check on him.  We pet him and tell him to calm down.  We go back to the clothes.  Then Belle says, "Mom should I go put Scout under a tree?"  "Yes, that would be a good idea, Belle."   She takes him under a tree. She gives him more water.  She sits with him.  Joe Bug goes out there too.  Doodles and I are drying and folding the clothes at this point.  Belle comes in.  She put Scout back in the pickup bed...

The gentleman (the one smoking earlier) had seen us several times attend to our pet.  He had been out there smoking a number of times.  He comes into the laundromat, and says, "Are any of you the owner of the dog in the pickup?"  I reply, "Yes, sir, I am"  "Well the Human Society is here, they wish to speak to you.  They came out to look at a few of the dogs we groom. You can't leave a dog in the pickup unattended like that in 90*F weather!"

UMMMM HELLO????  You saw us out there with our dog a number of times!!!

I replied, "Sir we just put him back in the truck a few minutes ago."  "We can call the police!"-his response.
"No, sir, that won't be necessary."

I walk over to the Human Society lady.  I said, "Our dog was just under the tree and had water."  "He's panting pretty bad."  "Well he's use to the heat. We're from TX where it gets in the 100's."  "Well he's a dark colored dog.  He needs water."  "Okay, well we will put him back under the tree and get him some more water.  We aren't trying to cause any problems."

I proceed to walk away....

Some people are so flippin' aggravating!!!  I understand it was warm...but it was only 83*F(not 90*F like the guy said), our dog did have lots of water and was in the shade for most of the time. Dogs pant because it's their way of sweating.  The dog is NOT mistreated!!!  AND futhermore the man KNEW whose dog it was and was a jerk!!!

I had to remind myself to not be angry and pray for this man.  I still am having to remind myself of it.  I had to remind my children too...sigh...

I'm sure he probably called the Human Society...for whatever reason.

LORD help me to pray for this man and  I choose to forgive him.

(and if you all don't mind, please pray for me too.)

Blessings until next time!

PS.  I forgot to mention that the guy owned a dog grooming shop next door.  There was a lady in the laundromat that saw us tending to our dog, and when the guy came in and got me, afterwards the lady said, "That guy is a jerk.  I took my dog to him one time-that was all.  If you need someone to testify, I saw you tending to your dog, and he did too."  I thanked her very much.
