24

24 hours in a day, 24 years to my sweetie!
The traditional wedding gift for 24 years...well actually, according to this site there isn't a traditional gift, because anniversaries gifts were for every five years.  But in modern times it says musical gifts...such as concert tickets, CD's, or an MP3 Player.
Well on that note...(hahaha, that note, I didn't even mean to say that) here's a song for my sweetie, because I hope it will always be paradise!

Faith Level

"Our FAITH level is determined by our WORD level."

I was scanning the radio and  heard this Monday while driving in the truck on the way home from a very blessed weekend in TX.  How very true this is!  I didn't catch who said it though, but it goes along the same lines as this Bible verse:

Romans 10:17 (King James Version)

17So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

This reminds me of one of my favorite sermons I heard our Pastor at home teach many years ago.  (I'm sure I've shared this before, but it is one of my favorites, and this is my blog.  :P)

I was in the nursery tending to the babies on a Wednesday night.  Dh was in Brenham painting his mom and dad's country house.  When we worked in the nursery we would get a copy of the sermon.  I got my copy, and then the kids and I were going to drive up to see dh.  (Brenham was about an hour and a half from our house)  As I was driving, I listened to the tape.  (ah yeah, cassette tape, it was the 90's-lol)

Pastor was saying that sometimes we need to audibly hear the WORD of GOD to get it into our spirit.  He said sometimes you have to speak the WORD of GOD out loud so that your physical ear hears it, then it can get into your spirit man.

I had to listen to the tape over and over again.  Then it all clicked!  (love when GOD does that)  We have to stay focused on the WORD!  Sometimes we have to hear it, read it out loud so our spirit man can absorb it.

Now I realize this isn't what this quote was saying, but it reminded me of this story.  Our faith level can only increase as our WORD level increases.  Remember that saying?  "Garbage in, Garbage out"  Well that's the same thing as the WORD-if we intake the WORD of GOD, what comes out?  The WORD of GOD-FAITH!

I have to admit, I haven't been diligent lately about the WORD of GOD...as probably seen in my posts of late.  My apologies to you the reader and to my FATHER.

Blessings until next time!

The Stars at Night are Big and Bright, Deep in the Heart of Texas!

After over a year, we went to Texas this weekend, to say goodbye to my sister-in-law and her family.  They are moving to England.  Her Dh is in the air force.  They are suppose to be there 4 years.  Currently, they live outside of Wichita Falls.

We also drove down to Frisco, a suburb of Dallas.  My oldest daughter has a friend that plays ball for the Frisco Rough Riders.  He and his wife our friends of her's on facebook and when she told them we were coming down, they left us tickets to the game.  They are a very sweet and loving young couple!  We were truly blessed.

Sunday, we spent the day just chillin' and eating.  Dh and the bil, both fixed their versions of hot wings, and dh  also grilled some ribs.  We had beans, coleslaw, and corn.  We also had homemade brownies that Bella and her aunt made with ice cream and we topped the day off with buttered popcorn. YUM!

It was so great to be in our home state again. There something that comes over me everytime we get back to the stateline, I can't explain it.  I do know the stars are bigger and brighter in Texas.  :D  (Actually, we saw the most magnificent shooting star on the way back to my sil's Saturday night from the ball game) I miss it so, but I know for know KS is where the LORD wants us.

Blessings until next time!

Sliced Bread, Barrels of Kraut, and Star Gazing...

Other than GOD created them, what do these 3 have in common?  Not a thing that I can think of other than that was my yesterday...

I made corn beef on Wednesday in the crockpot so we could have ruben sandwiches.  I told dh we needed kraut, cheese, and bread.  He wanted to come home for lunch, so he picked up two huge jars!  I called him later and asked him if he still had the receipt for the barrels of kraut...LOL  I said, "We don't even go through a can, it would take us forever to get through just one jar!"

So then, I went to get the bread, because Wally world didn't have rye...imagine that, with all the bread they do have, no rye?  So I went to the grocery store.  I was looking in the bread section.  I see sliced bread...I see dark rye and jewish rye...they want a ridiculous price for hardly any bread.  I see the bakery...I think to myself, "Hmmm, maybe they have some over there."  I walk over and see whole loaves of rye-dark and jewish rye...not sliced though...go over to the counter.  Now this might seem like a stupid question, but seriously I didn't know.  I ask the gal, "Do you slice bread?  You know if it's a full loaf?"  She replies, "Yes, we do."  I go get the loaves....then as she is slicing them I see a self slicer right in front of me...boy do I feel like an idiot...I mention something about that, and she says, "Don't worry about it."  :D

Last night there was suppose to be a meteor shower.  Dh and Ds went out to gaze at it.  They were out for awhile, but I didn't know that's what they were doing, so I went out to find out what they were doing.  I see them both in lounge chairs gazing up.  I decide to stay out too.  I ended up staying out there for over an hour.  I wonder why I don't do that more often.  I love to look up at the stars and think of GOD's creation.  So peaceful and quiet, a nice gentle breeze was blowing-it was perfect for gazing at the stars!

Favorite new book series...

I've been reading a lot lately.  My new favorite series is "Weddings by Bella".  It's a three part series of a gal named Bella who takes over her BIG Italian family's wedding coordinating business.  The books are funny, entertaining, easy reading, romantic, wholesome, and the best part is they are Christian. They will make you laugh and cry (in a good way).  If you're a Texan you'll love them even more, because they take place in Galveston and the Houston area.  I love them so much that I wish the writer, Janice Thompson, would do another book in the series!

I'm currently reading another series-"The Alcott Legacy" by Maryann Minatra.  I got all three books on sale at Family Christian Bookstore the other day.  I'm about 3/4 of the way done with the first book, The Tapestry.  It's about love and loss during the Civil War.  So far I'm enjoying it.  Again, another Christian writer.

I've also recently reread the Love Comes Softly Series...love these books and a couple other Christian fiction books.

Blessings until next time!

Common Sense

Maybe it's just me...but I really thinking this generation lacks common sense.  sigh...

For example there is this sign when you enter the park:

Then there's this one:

or how about this one when you get up to the front of the booth:

So if that's the case, why do I get questions like:

Do I need a permit to come into the park?
I'm just dropping off so and so, do I need a permit?
I'm going over to the marina, do I need a permit? (the marina is in the park)
We just want to drive around the park, do we need a permit?

Or how about these pictures-what do you suppose these mean?

or this one?

or how about this one?
But instead, what does a car do today, right in front of the ranger?
Yes, I'm serious!

And how about this sign?

This is by far the most annoying!  Because I get questions like this:
The beach is closed?  (um that's what the sign says, the beach has been closed almost all summer)
When will the beach be open? (um, now how would I know that?  maybe when the water goes down?)
Why is there high water?  (um perhaps because it rained for days?)
AND before we had due to high water and the sign just said, "Beach closed"
we would get things like?
Why is the beach closed?  It's not because of e-coli is it?  (Seriously if it was e-coli, ONE, wouldn't it be all over the news?  TWO, would we even have the park open?  THREE, would we allow you to go boating?)

Sometimes I wish Jay Leno was standing by to record these....LOL
Blessings until next time!

Praise GOD to whom all blessings flow!

Today, I received a call from dh.
The conversation went something like this:
DH:  What are you doing?
Me:  Getting ready to take the kids to the mall.  What are you doing?
DH:  Looking over an offer letter for work!

YES!  The company offered dh full time, permanent work.  PTL!!! Looks like KS will be home for awhile!  :D
Thanks to all of you that have been praying!

Let me tell you what!

Bella and I got new bikes last week.  They are the old fashioned push pedal, brake pedal type.  I haven't had a new bike in 25 years.  Before we moved to ND, I got rid of my old 10 speed in a garage sale.  I seldom rode that bike.  I could never get use to the brakes on the handle bars and never did understand how to do all the gears.  I was raised on an old brake type-so I was happy to see them making a come back!  :D  Bella and my bikes looks like this only a different color.  She got a light blue and I got a fushia color.

Let me tell you what!  WHAT!!!  LOL...riding a bike at 45 is NOT the same as riding a bike when I was 13!  (Well that and the fact, I'm so out of shape!)  I can barely make it up a small incline.  I can't imagine riding up an actually hill!  Thankfully, the park has a nice loop about a mile long, that I've been able to go around a few times each night, with very small inclines.  I think I'll just keep working on that before I take any hills!  But I can imagine in a few months time, if I keep it up, I'll be a tad slimmer!  (well I hope so, at least)

Blessings until next time!
