While I was at...

Today, while we were at Wendy's for lunch, there was a mom, a little boy about 4, and a little girl about 2-3 that came in. When they sat down to eat, the momma prayed and the little boy raised his little hand to Heaven...if that wasn't precious enough, his little sister kept looking over at us and I could hear her say to her momma with her mouth full of fries, "There's my new friends. " It was SO darling!!! She then would eat a few bites and say, "There's my new friends!"
When we got up to leave, she said, "Bye new friends" awwwww isn't that just the cutest?

Getting to know us part 6

The first night that we stayed at the campground in the tent...dh aka Flower, was putting up the tent and Belle and I had to go to the bathroom. We walked over to the bath house. When we went inside I noticed their were coin boxes outside the showers. I thought..."Oh great, we have to pay for showers." When I went back I told dh. He said, "I'll check it out, when I go over there."

Dh went over there, came back and said, "You don't have to pay for a shower. I turned the water on."

The next morning dh went off to work. When I got up, I grabbed my clothes, towels, etc. I went to the showers, took my clothes off, turned the water on and waited for the water to get hot...and I waited, and waited, and WAITED!!! Put my clothes back on, grabbed my stuff, went back to the tent, and called dh from my cell phone. The conversation went something like this...

Me-"Hi Honey"
Dh-"Hi"
Me-"Did you take a shower this morning?"
Dh-"Yeah"
Me-"Did you take a HOT shower this morning?"
Dh, laughing-"No, I found out this morning that you need to pay for hot water. Boy was that a cold shower!"

It was $ .25 for 6 minutes...$ .10 for every 2 minutes after that! I learned how to take a shower and give lil dd a shower in less than 6 minutes cuz I wasn't paying more than I had too!

Finally, Getting to know us part 5: The day is what you make of it!

Mind you, my dh's job keeps us traveling quite a bit...this was several years ago now...we were spending the summer in a tent in Mansfield, MA...why you ask? Because we had been living in a dumpy motel...it was awful for 3 months with 3 kids, 13 yodd, 4yods, 3yodd...the only problem is housing of any sort that we could afford was next to impossible to find...and after that we came back home to TX only to receive a call to go back up to the lovely area...well this time we were going outside of Boston, certainly housing wouldn't be near as hard to find or as expensive-right? Little did we know!

We had brought our tent and camping gear up there because we thought it would be fun to camp on the weekends...we didn't expect to do it all summer...but when we got up there, we were low on cash and thought until we find something in the next few days, we'll camp...the only problem with that is...again hind sight is 20/20...everyone in New England apparently comes out of the woodwork to camp on the weekends in the summer time! So we (if we had know this we'd made reservations months in advance) would only have a campsite for a few days...sometimes we would have one for a week-that was always a blessing!!!

My dh would leave at 4:30-5:00 am to go to work in Boston, so guess who would have the joy of taking the elaborate tent system down? The tarps, the coolers, the luggage, the camping gear, the mini fridge, etc, etc, etc, (yes, we were living high on the hog in a tent...you should have seen the day we bought a hose and claimed we had running water-lol )

One night I couldn't sleep cuz I was dreading moving day yet again...not easy when you have to do all of it yourself and not even sure half the time if you were going to have a site to go to (we usually had to wait for a cancellation at the last minute) and dh asks me, "what's the matter?" I tell him and he says, "Well the day is what you make of it..."

Of course he was/is right, but that certainly wasn't something I was in the mood to hear at the time. Needless to say we look back on that time and laugh now!!!

Okay this is funny, well probably if you were here...

About a week ago, I told dh I was going to start referring him on my blog as "Flower"...if you're familiar with the movie Bambi you know who Flower is...a skunk...and since dh is a man and he and ds have a habit of well...hopefully you can figure this part out, that's why. Dh aka Flower didn't mind the joke...tonight my Belle (our youngest dd) said to her Daddy, "Daddy, you smell good" and dh replied, "It's because I just f**ted" (now mind you, I don't think it's nice for him to say something like that to his dd, but over the years and having 2 brothers and a dad, it's stuff you sometimes deal with as a family) Doodlebugs (my oldest dd) said, "It's cuz he's Flower." Belle asks in a very inquisitive tone, "Must we keep calling our father Flower?" Oh man was it funny!!!!

manners...or the lack of...

I'm at Walmart today of all places...Yes, many of you know how I feel about that store...anyhow...and I'm in line waiting to check out. As I'm waiting there's a lady in front of me. I already put my items on the belt with the little divider thingy...there's a gal behind me...there's not another divider thingy. She uses her 6 or 8 or however many bottles of vegetable oil to divide my groceries from her's and she's not leaving any space between my groceries and her oil! In fact she propped her oil right on the edge of my french bread loaf. Then when the divider thingy is free and I decide to put it between my stuff and hers (which btw I had to push her oil back some) she's like, "Oh sorry"... oh yeah right whatever...and then she rams her cart into my bottom. "Oh sorry" yeah, right whatever lady...

Okay, granted the woman was polite enough to say she was sorry, but did she mean it...who knows??? My question is, Why do we live in such a rude and inconsiderate society? Why is it that even the church/christian people have become so rude, and lack to teach manners?

I'm seriously thinking manners need be be taught in school, at church, etc, etc...

I seriously have a problem with the lack of manners in today's society! It really bugs me when people think they are too good to say "Excuse me" when they are practically plowing you over with their grocery cart...and then when you politely say, "Excuse me" they make this loud huffy, puffy noise...like you're at fault!!! What's up with that???? :( What about when people are blocking the entrance of an establishment and thy clearly see you and won't move? What's that about??? So then I say, "Excuse me!?" ACK!!! it drives me nuts!!!

Does anyone else have this problem or at least notice it? or is it just me?

Blessings!

Sunday Sing-Along

I have to admit, Sunday Sing-Along is one of my favorite things on my blog...Thank you Da-Red-Head for hosting it each week! It would be more fun if some of you other folks would join in! This week I picked a song from one of my favorite Christian bands. I picked this song for a couple reasons...1. It's fun, and Da-Red-Head put a fun song on her blog. 2. Dh loves this song and is getting a new motorcycle soon. 3. This was the first Christian song to be played on MTV...Cool huh?

Not much new

Nope, not much new...haven't really limited my time on the laptop...well I haven't been on it all day, but enough that I really should be doing other things...but I've been helping dd hunt down a job and looking up stuff...plus I've had cramps...so not getting as much done as I should. On a plus, I have read my devotion and Bible each day. (not trying to toot my own horn...just glad I'm following through)

BTDT...inspired...

Yep, I have....I've been there, done that....My friend, Angela aka Trustingdaily, wrote a beautiful blog about becoming distracted. Please take a moment to read it...I think we've all btdt...but I love her humility. It's beautiful, and it's inspired or encouraged me to make sure I got up and read my devotion and Bible this morning. (and hopefully again every morning) I have spent a day (more than one) sitting at my computer thinking, oh it's okay...there's always tomorrow...but truly knowing in my heart that's wrong. Knowing I should be spending time in the WORD with the LORD instead of encouraging my internet friends (not that there's anything wrong with that, but it shouldn't take the place of my time with the LORD or my family). So I encourage you today to do the same, if you're stuck in a rut, go back to your first love, challenge yourself to, before you do anything else in the morning, read HIS WORD, spend time with your family, set a time limit on the computer...that will probably be a challenge for me too...especially with a new laptop...but ya know what? We can do it! because WE CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHICH STRENGTHENS US. Philipians 4:13 AMEN!!!???

And thanks, Angela, for allowing the LORD to humble you and share it with me.

Sunday Sing-Along

WARNING: THIS IS SOMEWHAT GRAPHIC and to some CONTROVERSIAL!!!

Being brought up a devout Catholic and as a teen considering becoming a nun (yes, I'm serious and you can stop laughing now :P)
Abortion is major big topic...now that I'm a Christian abortion is still a big topic to me (and hopefully to all Christians) and since January 22nd will be the 35th anniversary of
Roe vs Wade I thought I would dedicated this song to all those unborn children. I know this isn't a praise or worship song, but it's close to my heart...because at one time I thought abortion was okay as long as I didn't have one...I thought it should be a woman's right...then shortly after my oldest dd was born I became pregnant again...and miscarried at my Dad's house on a Sunday afternoon. My dh was working (back then he was a shift worker for Dow Chemical). I had been cramping a slight bleeding for a day or so...When I went to the bathroom I miscarried and held my little one in my hand (I know gross, I apologize)...but it was from that point on I knew abortion was very wrong...there was a life no matter how very small it was (I was about 6-8 weeks along) and it was clearly a human baby, not some mass of tissue. My baby was formed and I could see the arteries and veins formed from the head through the little body. The eyes, etc taking shape. I will live with that image for the rest of my life, but GOD did something in me that day, he changed my heart. Thank YOU, LORD! and so for that I put this as my song for today.

what to do, what to do???

Well that certainly wasn't a problem yesterday...our day was full of things to do! After we got up and dh made breakfast, showered, etc., we were on the go all day and night. We had a wedding to go to at 2pm, so first we ran over to Kohl's-paid my bill, then to Target- returned a couple of items, picked up a card and a gift for the wedding...dh wanted to look at Harleys...checked some out...he took one out on a test drive, ride, spin? whatever....then back to the rv to get ready for the wedding...uh-oh! I forgot to get dd 1 & 2 stockings as they asked...back to Target...they don't have the ones I want...over to Walmart (thank goodness right across the street) back to the RV...makeup, hair, dressed...out the door...to the South east side of Houston....dh is driving-ack!
We get there safely with plenty of time to spare-thank YOU, LORD!

The wedding was beautiful. I cried and I don't even really know the couple. The groom is the son of an old friend of ours. We probably haven't seen them in 10 years (but continued to keep in touch) We met them at the church the wedding was at when our oldest dd was about 7 or 8. One of the assistant pastors married the couple. He is Jewish converted Christian. He use to teach Sunday School when we were there. Boy what a great teacher! It was great to hear him teach/preach/marry this beautiful young couple. After greeting all the guests and the formalities, he said he would like to share his one of his favorite times in the Bible when Jesus was invited to the wedding in Cana and how he changed or transformed the water into wine. He said just as those people invited Jesus to their wedding, you have done a wise thing by inviting Jesus into yours (the young couple) and also that Jesus in the next several years as a married couple will transform their lives from two to one. It was so neat how he shared it with them and then he shared the importance of a covenant-and as a former Jew, he would know that teaching. What I really like about this man is that you can hear the love of Jesus in his voice and see it in his eyes-SO much compassion.

The reception was also beautiful! Tons of food! We had a chance to see another couple we hadn't seen in years. That was kinda weird because we use to hang out with them almost on a daily basis and then they seemed quite uncomfortable with us yesterday. Time truly changes things. We got to visited briefly with the grooms parents (our friends) and then we had to get going. Why you may ask? Because the company dh works for was having a winter gala (that I found out about on Wednesday evening)

We go back to the rv take a very short nap, touch up the makeup (now a little more dramatic), touch up the hair (like I needed more hairspray in it...LOL) change clothes and off we go again...I wore the same black slacks (as my Nana would call them) to the wedding and changed into a back velvety with silver glittery top. (It was a fancy black tie kinda thing, gala) I was leaving a glittery trail where ever I went last night....quite entertaining to me...since dh is a contractor and hardly knew the hundreds (or so it seemed) people there, I needed something to keep me entertained. LOL-JK(well about the glitter keeping me entertained, I did find it quite amusing needless to say) After standing at this place for a good 30 minutes looking around for anyone dh knows he finally spots someone. I said, kiddingly, should we run over there? Turned out it was also a contractor and his wife...very nice couple...I'm sure they thought dh and I are nutty-but imho that kinda goes without saying...any how, over all it was a nice evening and we finally headed back to the rv around 11 pm. Where this Cinderella quickly brushed her teeth, washed her makeup off, and moisturized before slipping into her jammies, and crawling off into beddy bye...

I'll post the pic they made us while we were there when I have access to the scanner.

last, but certainly not least...Sunday Sing-Along

Happenings....

Since I won't be on until probably the end of this week here's what's going on...
DS's 12 birthday was on Thursday. Ds wanted a Wii for Christmas and I told him, " If we get you a Wii that's all you will get"...then I said, "How about if I talk it over with dad and if it's okay we'll not buy as much for Christmas as we normally would and we'll get you a Wii for your birthday?" Ds thought this was a great idea (only because he really wanted the Wii)

I could find plenty of Wii's before Christmas!!!! Can I find a Wii now???? Oh NO! Do you even have an idea how many stores I've been to between here and Houston to find the Wii? We want a Wii! So ds's b-day passed and still no Wii...so instead because of no Wii we just got him a Wii game that he can't play...how fun is that?

Other happenins...(yes, I spelled happenings wrong on purpose, that's the way my dad playfully says it) We've been going to a Wednesday ngiht cell group at my dh's current boss's house. The church his boss goes to is a vine off our home church-so that's been kinda cool and refreshing...although most of the people there are still babes in Pampers...maybe dh and I are there to bring them up higher...even dh's boss is still a fairly young Christian (at least to me).

Dh's driver's side window on his truck was cracked when he came out of work on Wednesday evening....he thinks a rock from when they mowed the lawn hit it...of course no one is responsible for it...it will cost us more to send it through insurance than just to pay out of pocket.

The kitchen sink in the RV was leaking all over the 7 of 10 boxes of various flavors, of on sale, hot chocolate we bought the week before...dd took the hair dryer and dried them-thank goodness the boxes absorbed most of the water. Dh fixed it when he got home from work.

My curling iron died that same morning...I had just dried my hair, so off to Walmart we go with my frizzy hair....that was real fun! :P

We had water coming out of the wall in the RV between the bathroom and the main area...turns out the shower glass door is dripping down and then out the wall...thank goodness it just needs to be caulked...oh the life of RVing...it's these little things...even in a new RV...we've had it on all 3 RV's we own...it's just part of the package. LOL!

Okay, I think that's it...off to look for a Wii again-pray. ;)

NO Laptop, NO TV....

This past week I've been with dh and the younger two at the vacation home (aka the RV). Monday my laptop died when I went to start it...dh looked it over and determined it was some ribbon connector thingy-yeah I know real technical-that of course was not what dh called it....but hey I'm a girl and this is my blog and I can call it whatever I please...and besides I don't know what it's called without going to ask dh :P...

We are also without television in the rv-not that I really mind...I'm not a big tv person anyhow, but now that the kids are busy on school I have nothing to do in my free time (and there's lots...it's only a 30 ft trailer...it doesn't take long to clean!) The RV park we're staying at doesns't have cable and we haven't decided whether we want to get Dish or not (recall my nightmare with DirecTV, on old blog)

Hopefully by the end of the week I'll have my new 17 inch Dell Laptop...thank you, Honey. (that would be dh for any of you that couldn't figure that out...:P) Anyhow as soon as I have laptop again, I'll be posting more regularly.

Blessings until then (well and after then and between then too-LOL)!

Sunday Sing-Along

There's so many songs to choose from...I love worshiping the LORD!!! I thought because it's a new year, and we only have right this moment (hopefully many, many more in JESUS' NAME) I would put this song by Wayne Watson-one of my favorite worshipers. Blessings!

My laptop is slowly...

dying...do you think I can speak life back into it? ;) It would be much cheaper than buying a new one.

I really would like a new one though, with a bigger screen...

REBEL...

Well, not on purpose...but I've started my own homeschool/fellowship board. I've been thinking about it for months and months....I think the last incident on my ex favorite board and all they have going on over there was the last straw-sort of speak...anyhow...here's the address...let me know if you'd like to join...GREAT ADVENTURES FELLOWSHIP/HOMESCHOOL BOARD

HAPPY 2008!!!!

Yep, it's finally here...2008...another leap year! I pray that 2008 will be great for everyone...that you'll walk in physical, mental, financial, and social health and prosperity. Thank YOU LORD for 2007 and now the NEW YEAR, 2008!
