Friday we went out to "the slopes" with the homeschooling group to go skiing and snow boarding. DH took the day off and we had a family day. Joe Bug and Belle both decided they wanted to give snow boarding a try. DH did a little skiing. Doodles and I stayed in the lodge and read and visited with some of the other homeschoolers. It was a little crowded. There were 3 bus load of ps kids there, but soon they left and things weren't so chaotic. The "lodge" wasn't very homey like you see in the movies. It was more like a bunch of tables and chairs everywhere and people's ski stuff thrown all over. (I pictured a nice big open area with big comfy couches and a roaring fire place, where I would sit back, read, and enjoy some hot chocolate.)
Here's some video of Joe Bug trying it out:
And here's a video of Belle trying it out:
This was their first time trying snowboarding. I think they both did great. I was thrilled that Belle not only tried, but even went on the ski lift! (something I won't dare do) Belle got assistance from our friend, K. K was so patient and kind. She went up on the lift with Belle and stayed with her all the way down. Belle started crying, and K told her it would be okay and not to cry. K is another homeschool mom and a wonderful and kind lady! Thank you K for your help!
Joe Bug thought he'd be Shaun White already-lol! Needless to say, he's not. LOL...and both have sore muscles from the whole adventure.
We had a great time and decided to try it again soon!
Blessings until next time!

Well, if there's gonna' be snow, you might as well find a way to enjoy it, right? Good for you! I would have pictured the ski lodge different, too---too many movie images, I guess. Glad you had a good time.
hugs,
Rosemary
