Motivated by?

The other day the kids had the radio on.  They were listening to Germ Tush.  LOL...That's their name for John Tesh.  I think it's an appropriate name for him because he is always talking about germs and how to prevent them.  The guy is a germaphobic-seriously, have you heard him?

We listen to him once in awhile.  The other day while listening to him, not only was he talking about germs, he was talking about Campus Security.  As I listened, I realized that the times I've heard him on the radio, he is always talking about things to prevent something.  Now I'm all for safety and cleanliness, but I also think GOD has given us tools against these things too, if used properly.

The more I listened to Germy, I realized he, or his writers of his show, are motivated by fear.

What do I mean?  Do you recall the story of GOD's children when they were going to enter into the Promised Land? (Numbers 13:25-33) Moses sent Joshua and Caleb and some other scouts into the land.  When they returned they were to give an account of what they saw. MY paraphrased version..."The land is filled with milk and honey, BUT there are giants in the land, and we can not overtake them."  Caleb reminded them they could take the giants, but the other scouts were motivated by fear.

The children marched around a mountain for forty years....because the next thing they did was murmur and complain to Moses about going back to Eygpt.

Often times, we are motivated by fear, like the scouts and the children of Israel, because we rely on our own understanding instead of listening and obeying GOD's WORD.

How do we change this?  We meditate on GOD's WORD.  We remove the source of our fear.  We do this by not watching or listening to things that go against GOD's WORD.  We walk in faith.  Remember faith is the substance of things HOPED for, the evidence of things NOT SEEN.  (Hebrews 11:1)

We often have to change our thinking.  How do we do that? Again, we meditate on the WORD of GOD.  When the enemy tries to remind us of the thing we fear we boldly stand in faith.  We tell him, "No devil you are a liar, you have come to steal, kill, and destroy!  GOD's WORD says...." and that's when you quote GOD's WORD over the situation.  That's how we get victory!  That's how we change our thinking!  That's how we build our faith!  That's how we remove the source of fear!

If you are struggling in an area, I urge you to seek the WORD of GOD over that situation.  Learn those verses!  Meditate over those verses!  Tell satan what GOD's WORD says!  He has no power or authority over you, if you are GOD's child!  Resist the devil and he shall flee from you! (James 4:7)

Blessings until next time!

You cannot be in fear & faith at the same time. Or in fear & trust at the same time, any more than you can be in the dark & light at the same time. We need to stay in the light....which is faith & trust in HIM.

Very nice, Bobbi! So true!

I'm not a faithful listener to his radio program. However, in full disclosure, I occasionally go to bed with John Tesh. LOL. He puts me to sleep!! (Don't worry... DH knows & is fine with it.)

I'm AWFUL!!!

I've noticed that about John Tesh also---glad it's not just me who thinks so. You are so right about approaching things with faith, not fear.
